Hi Terrible One,

This tube of KY in my tool box is SOLELY for car and bikes maintenance use :)

KY is ideal for lubricating rubber parts temporarily. It is water base so it will evaporate and leave no greasy residue after use, it will not hurt rubber parts, it is cheap, available everywhere, available any time even in the middle of the night.

Here is another example, apply a little bit of KY on the rubber mounts when putting back the tank to the frame will make the whole job a breeze. Instead of wrestling the tank into the frame, the tank literally slide in with no effort. I am sure you know what I meant

Some low life dismantled my Speedo and Odometer unit from my W400. Poor baby look very naked now. Trying to ask the police to try and see if any finger prints can lifted off my bike. Gonna get the B.A.S.T.A.R.D.S........

Where did you park your bike?

Not many ppl would need that kind of sppedo and odo unless the thief has specific need for it.

W400 meter is electronic meter which is bike specific. It will not work properly on a W650 too, as the final reduction ratios are different between the two… o_O Who want to steal this thing?

Beats me too bro...to add insult to injury, 3 days after the meter was stolen, i had a LTA summon pasted on my bike for the missing front number plate. Didn't know LTA had officers going around carparks to check if bikes had number plates or not...something fishy going on down at my carpark i think. :slapforehead:

Some updates… :thirsty:

Mileage is 20,000km now. It is time for some maintenance.

The last time I wash and lube the air filter was 2 years/10,000km ago.

Not much dirt on the filter fur (under the stainless steel mesh) element upon visual inspection.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v198/Phang/DSCN6197.jpg

When soaked in kerosene, it dissolved the air filter oil which I sprayed 2 years ago and releases a pinch-full of fine abrasive sediment at the bottom of the container. The air filter oil really works!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v198/Phang/DSCN6199.jpg

I hang the air filter for 2 days to let the kerosene evaporate before I clean them further with compressed air.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v198/Phang/DSCN6201.jpg

Well oiled and ready to slot back to the air box to serve another 10,000km :thirsty:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v198/Phang/DSCN6203.jpg

I also changed the fork oil. Fork seal and the retaining spring as new as 2 years/10,000km ago.

Valve clearances grew a little bit wider over the past 10,000km. 3 valves need new shim. I have 2.90 shim in my tool box so got to place order for 3.05 and 3.25 shim.

Yo Phang!

Received my Odometer frm Japan and it's without screws. In your opinion, is there anyway to lock secure it? am tempted not to install it just in case it gets stolen again...unless there's a way to lock the screws other than welding it permanently..

Any feedback from you is always appreciated!

I would suggest you cover the bike and install a simple alarm with vibration sensor set to maximum. Honestly, those tamper proof/special screws only able to keep the undetermined/unprepared thief away.

My 3 bikes cover lifted by some itchy hands recently. It happened a day after my neighbour’s bike carburetor got stolen at the basement car park which is 100m away from my bikes. Those security guards must be sleeping at night… :dot:

Man ! I'd like to get my hands on one of these thieving S.O.Bs !:gun:

Looks like the alarm is a neccesity...these sons of deseased camels will be back for sure...

Thanks for the tip bro !

Besides the bike cover lifting incident, I am bothered by a dog owner who walk his/her dog and allow the doggie to pi*s right on the front wheel of my Zephyr every 3~4 days.

I have to wash the wheel and the floor whenever they did that… $#@#@$

I already did something to the parking area, just wait for the next round they happily show up.

Feel like bringing my 5 years old son to pi*s and sh*t at the doorstep of this “pet lover”

Here's some suggested canto vulgar words;

1) Old mother fry crab,

2) Ride horse cross sea

:cheeky:

Try spraying some pepper spray in a circle on the ground around your bike. That'll take care of the *****.

You changing your spokes Phang ?? If those in your pictures are spoke replacement i'm surprised they sell them individually.

Yes, Kawasaki sells the spoke individually for S$3.30 each. I bought the 4 spokes in the photo as a sample to allow spoke manufacturer to copy and make a complete set in stainless steel.

Our W spokes are clear lacquered from the factory. Looks nice when new but they will get spotty oxidation under the clear lacquer after a while and very hard to remove/polish unless you strip the decaying clear coat away.

I am planning to replace the spokes with stainless steel spokes in the next tyre change. At 20,000km my W is still running on the tyres fitted by the factory, front tyre still have 20% of life while rear tyre has approximately 40%. I reckon these tyres can tahan at least 25,000km under my ah peh (old man) riding style.

I put everything back together yesterday, haven’t got a chance to ride it yet because my free time and good weather don’t come together these few days.

Yes, I am planning to do it myself. Got to learn and practice on a used wheel or my son’s bicycle first.

That's way cool.. Are you gonna buy a truing stand or make one? I've done many bicycle wheels, not sure if it'll be as easy with thick motorcycle spokes or not.. The spokes on my Steed are rusty sh1t,but no time to try and change them myself.. I'll change my fork oil first..

Oh ya,if you carry on washing ur bike stuff in your bath tub, I'm pretty sure your wife will give you the thumbs up for the container garage.. Haha
