First meet up of 2015. We realise that only a few of us are still riding these classics... Nevertheless, it was a good meet up.

Wow! Is that Boten Border?

Yes Bro, went last year. No budget for a proper tourer, but luckily the cb endured it all. Was worried that the bike will give up halfway...

Hello all,

Am thinking of taking over a 2005 RC 42.. I went to talk to some mechanics and there were mixed views. My concern is the maintainability of the bike!

My mech suggested not to get it cause spare parts for the bike are hard to find.

I really like the bike though! But some work needs to be done.. The front fork suspension is leaking and one of the front brake caliper is leaking a little too.

Any thoughts and views from fellow CB750/RC42 riders?

Am also planning to do a cafe racer mod for it actually...

I may not be riding a cb750...almost got one but was too late...haha...anyways as long you got the part number....you can get your spare parts locally or overseas as long as you do a google search....i usually get my parts from ebay or amazon if i cant get locally with the cheapest combined postage and item cost.....also some parts can be used on multiple bikes as long as the part number tallies.....you should also get a clymers manual from ebay or amazon which can help in identifying what you may need to change or spare parts....

An example of a 1993 cb750 part numbers

http://www.2wheelpros.com/oem-parts/1993-honda-nighthawk-750-cb750.html

helps to trace what spare parts you need as long as it is similar to your date of manufacture of bike.....

anyways the nighthawk750 is my favourite among the cb750s.....

hopefully the cb750s guys no angry me commenting here...im a suzuk fan by the way....

I ride at 70km/hr only...please please dont blow2 at me or overtake me dangerously....wait i change into Incredible Hulk n dont know why my little baby bike will always be ahead of u if u do that

You'll need to go online to get the cowling you're looking for.

I saw what you're looking for on Webike.com

Type in your bike model and year and it'll narrow down your search.

All the best!

Hi there. For a 2017 expiring COE, you shouldn't pay more than $4500. As for the 9k CB750 you saw, you'll need to confirm the COE. Probably the shop renewed it so that could be why it's peg to 9k. Most of the 2nd hand CBs around are priced between $4500 to about $7500... Hope this helps.

9k is too much too pay for especially if the condition is not good even if the COE is just renewed.

A few things to look out for are leaks around the engine block, under the engine where the drain plug is, fork seal leaks, dents in the oil cooler located just in front of the top block and behind the forks.

Sit on the bike, squeeze the front brake and jerk the bike back and forth to see if the steering come is worn out. If it is, it'll make a sound when jerked.

Also grip the rear tyre and push and pull sideways the rear wheel. This is to check if the swing arm bushing is worn out.

Lastly, fire the engine up and listen to it idling. It should make a very gentle melodic hum to it. At the same time, listen out for any popping sounds emitted around the exhaust system. If you hear any sounds like that, it could be that somewhere on the pipe there's a leak. And don't forget to see if any visible white smoke is emitted from the exhaust. If there's white smoke and a noisy engine, chances are that the bike needs an overhaul which can cost you over $2K.

Hope this helps.
