Hi ab,

Rainman is also looking for someone to take over his bike. You can contact him early next month for details too! :thumb:

It's been the third time now that my bike has been up for grabs but no takers. Well, I will be keeping the bike. Anyway, it is a really good bike!

Don't tell God you have a big problem. Tell the problem you have a big God!

Hi Guys

Sorry for not posting any reply. Yes, still around and reading this discussion. Kinda caught up in work and many other things.

Just rode to Melaka and back on Sun for errant, that' why didn't inform anyone here. Bike running smooth at 140km/h - 160km/h. But my little fly screen didn't help a lot with the wind blast.

Only major problem i have is the petrol consumption which was extremely high for some reason. Full tank only lasted me 200km :giddy: So far commuting in Singapore is 18.5km/l. A bit high but considering it's a 9 yr old bike i thot is ok. Bike cold start bit difficult - need to hold throttle or choke to let bike run for a while, afterthat ok. Chain a bit loose i know but only 200km per tank at 160km/h is ridiculous to me:weep:

Anyone can offer an answer? Sending in bike for check up soon.

Cheers

Another way of knowing whether it's a jap or euro model.

On the side panel:

CB 750 --> Jap model

CB SevenFifty --> Euro model

So far, CB 750s have no known issue with their rectifier. No problems with their alternators too.

Insurance price for me, aged 24, is at about $800 for 3rd party fire and theft.

Fuel consumption wise, is around 18 - 19km/l depending on bike and riding style.

On my recent ride to Phuket, my fuel consumption dropped to 14km/l on the highway at speeds of 150-160km/h. One fuel tank only lasted my around 300km, inclusive of reserve.

This bike does not come with a fuel gauge, but it has a fuel c***. That's the fuel gauge. You just run it on main till you feel your bike is jerking then you switch to reserve. Your bike will have no fuel gauge, if your bike is like mine. FUEL c*** IS DAMAGED!

Now, my bike is running on permanent reserve and i only have to rely on the trip meter reading.

Hey. Y'll wanna meet up, do give me a call @ 90088457.

I noticed there's a small rectangle slot on the right panel of the euro CB-seven fifty, but not on the JDM version. Maybe can use that to tell the difference?

Another member in the cb750 family. Welcome welcome!

During these past few months with my bike, i have experienced a lot of ups and downs. There were quite a few major problems with mine as mine was afterall, from SSDC.

Gaskets and oil seals were all burnt. Starter cluth worn out. Clutch plates gone. My engine has been off the bike twice! But now, everything is a-ok. Been to Phuket and back without any major hickups except for a busted fork oil seal and a dead battery (my bad. did not check when the batt was last changed.).

After countless hours with my mechanic spent at his shop looking at how he serviced my bike, i've learnt a little bit of things here and there about the bike.

Basically a very simple bike with no problems with the rectifier, alternator or battery.

Just change the oil regularly, plugs, air filter @ 20,000++km. Thats all. Do look out for leaks as well. After about 50,000km milage, our engine will start to leak especially at the cam-cover. Do not worry as replacement of the gaskets only take a few hours and will not cost more than $50.

Most important of all, CHECK YOUR ENGINE OIL LEVEL OFTEN!!!

Our bike is prone to leaks and even with the engine oil at a low level, the bike still runs very smoothly, so most of the time, you will not know until its too late. So check your oil level often to ensure sufficient amount of oil inside. When i reached Phuket, i only had about 2L of engine oil inside instead of the 3L! I would not have known if i did not check as the engine was still running so smooth! The leak was due to a screw that came loose along the way there.

How to check?

- start engine on main stand.

- let it idle for about 3-5mins.

- off engine.

- after about another 3 - 5 mins, remove dipstick.

- clean excess oil with clothe.

- put it dipstick, but do not screw in.

- remove dipstick and read engine oil level.

- should be between the upper and lower mark, in the middle.

- if too low, top up engine oil to upper level.

- if at upper level, leave it be.

Y'll can reach me at 90088457.

Hi guys, I've decided to merge the CB750 and CB1k/13 to a single thread, since there's talk of meet-ups, maintenance comparisions, etc in both threads.

You can either join the Super4 (CB400) guys for meet-up, or organise a meet-up for the Class 2 CB bikes!

Yeah. William is right. Domestic models from Japan are usually restricted to 180km/h. At least mine is. The important part for me is not going above that speed. Just that i would be interested to release more power than available currently if there's any to start with...

There are quite a few versions on the story on how to de-restrict.

Some say that the restrictor is in the speedo and rpm unit and there is a few wires to cross.

Some say that you have to buy a de-restrictor.

Some say the restrictor is in the CDI.

Some say it is in the carbs.

Too many versions until dunno which one is the correct one.

Think you have to check with some of the Japanese websites for more info and you will really need a really good website translator.
