just my 1 cent input

i use semi-syn oil for my bike

but i change it every mth

and once, for oil filter, every other mth

for my theory, fresh oil is always gd for the engine

and semi syn is cheaper than fully syn oil.

just a thought

Thanks for the input. Its worth every cent!

So would you say any semi synthetic oil would do? How about the oil's viscosity. I was told 20W50. What would you recommend?

Cheers!

erm, ok

for my bike, manual recommend 10w40

but due to bike old liao

start to eat abit of oil

20w50 seem like a better choice.

anyway, either oil shld b ok

if u change every mth.

sori, can i ask how many litre of engine oil needed for this bike?

Pardon me for my ignorant, wun it be very expensive to be changing oil every month? Presuming 60km/day, so will be 1800km/oil change?

Sori if my qns seems stupid, i understand the thicker oil theory, jus that i am puzzled with the freq oil change. Is it that e older the engine, the more frequent the oil change?

i am also considering the bike, seems to be able to get it quite cheap for a 2nd hand, but not very sure of the power output and fuel comsumption of the bike. Pls kindly advice on this part as well.

Thanks.

Hi Fam,

The standard oil change interval is usually 5000km. I guess changing once a month is ok provided you are able to afford it.

As for the horsepower, the specs says 85BHP and fuel consumption is about 21km per litre. Even on 5th gear, if you just open up the throttle, the bike just shoots off. Not bad for an air cooled 750! I am enjoying the ride! Hope you get one for yourself.

Cheers!

hiya fam

whether to change oil every mth is up to the owner

just tat i "feel" safer to do it monthly (maybe tats me)

as i ride the bike pretty hard

ultimately, its ya choice

Rookie517,

Roughly how much did you spend on items like:

1. Complete chain and sprocket set

2. Front and Back brake pads

3. Engine oil and filter change

4. Air Filter change or clean up

Could you enlighten me?

Cheers!

Bro,

I owned to 2 of these in the past. As long as stock and oil changed, nothing can go wrong that is out of the ordinary.

Enjoy your ride, but nothing to add.. :-)

how much for a 2nd hand ???

and cost of rod tax & insurance??

u can find a cb 1000, white/red, at heng motor at jalan masjid (opposite Masjid Kassim, kembangan). cb 1300, my dad saw it at a motortiam opposite geylang market. just beside the prata shop.

2nd hand: cb 1000 - ard 5k, depend on plate

cb 1300 - ard 9k, depend on plate

there are 2 types of cb 1000.. Project Big or Normal. Project Big, not powercut and can travel 230km/h. Normal with powercut at 180km/h.

my advice for those getting, check the bike condition throughly (engine, radiator, electrical). other than that, s4 users will think it's another cb400 Version S. they only will find out after they take a closer look. enjoy... :cheer:

u cant resist it. my carpark slot got S4 PB1, cb1000, cb1300. my bike is the smallest there. a stone throw away, a cb750.. so it looks like the old 'birds' are gathering here. i was thinking abt owning a S4 PB1 for my class 2A. it is old but can chase others.

by the way, arjen, thanz for the tshirt.

Alright to answer your questions:

1. Complete chain and sprocket set

A few points before continuing:

1. Front sprockets only have originals. Aftermarket (made in italy) not available.

2. Rear sprockets, aftermarket (nade in italy) only available in size 43 and 40 (40 VERY RARE!). Size 38, only originals.

I got my:

1. Original front sprocket (15T)

2. Original rear sprocket (38T)

3. O-ring chain

For a total of $220. This is excluding of service charge (i change myself at you-know-where.)

If you were to get an aftermarket rear sprocket, i figure the cost will go down to about $190-$200 (not to sure, but can find out for you.)

2. Front and Back brake pads

SBS brake pads selling for $18/pair at HKL. So for rear and front will cost 3 x $18 = $54.

Better ones can cost up to $50/pair.

3. Engine oil and filter change.

My personal preference:

Oil filter @ Rosli's = $10/pc (this is standard at most places)

Engine oil

Delphi semi-synthetic 15W-50 @ Rosli's = $12/L (not confirmed but should be correct)

Motul 5100 semi-synthetic 15W-50 @ Rosli's = $15/L (includes service of changing the oil)

Motul 5100 semi-synthetic 15W-50 @ HKL = $12/L (But i still prefer to go to Rosli's. Regular hang-out place where's there's a lot of things to learn)

4. Air Filter change or clean up

Originals can't be clean. Recommended to get the un-restricted one with bigger hole for air-intake.

Originals = $35-$40

KNN = $120+++ (must order)

Come drop by Rosli's when you can. There's much more to be learnt about the bike. And i do hope the above enlightened you.

Gimme a call anytime man.

Thanks for the info. By the way, I always like to run my bikes stock. Gives me less headache. :giddy:

By the way, where can I get crashbars done like the ones you see on the S4's, located near the front lower part of the engine? How much would it set me back at?

Cheers!

the maintanence is the same like super4. just see how lucky u get the bike condition. so far no headache for my dad.. he just normal service + flush coolant.

fuel consumption, after u use abt 3 bar readings, it will cost around $12. not sure abt that cos my dad always fill up when half tank.

i agree with u. 2 exhaust looks nicer and very rare. so far we only saw 4 on the road. by the way the 2 exhaust is caburettor. the new one, not sure.. didnt look closely.

great bike.. i wish i got my Class 2
