The reason is the CC. Meaning more power. i.e pick up. Yes SP can reach 180km/hr and FYI CB400 can hit more than 170km/hr. Anyway even if CB400 can reach 170km/hr only, the reason is CB400 can reach 170 faster than SP. Im talking abt stock vs stock. If SP wanna reach 180, by that time the CB400 already long gone.

Another layman reasoning is that when pillion, SP150 feels more stressful than a CB400. thats where the cc power do its job. Hope it answers you. Definately getting a bigger cc bike is more comfortable. You can notice that you riding SP, you will be throttling non stop till the max. If taken a CB1000, you wont be able to even utilies it unless you are a pro. Thats why for me i havent use full throttle yet. Too scary. Good luck to you.

thanks bro, another thing,

1. is it worth getting a cb750? i mean cb400 stock spd is more den 170km right? can the cruising spd reach up 2 150km? does d bike feel stressful wen hit 170 n above? if d cruising spd is 150km, den i am more den happy to get one. but wat abt 600cc n above? i wanted to try traveling to thailand for starters. ive already traveled to melaca n labis around batu pahat wif my pulsar 180. d feelings great but its realy tiring to maintain 100-110km for long distances.

2. wat is vtec? i heard wen reached a certain spd, dis vtec activates n consumes alot of fuel but it does give power.

sory 4 d long question. im realy interested in S4. last time tought dat beter get a cb750 more better. hmm.... i think i gota think dis through.

thanks!!

My Answers for you questions;

1) Generally I haven rode a CB750. CB400 and CB1000 yes! CB400 i think confortable crusing should be 120. CB400 have overheat prob but i dunno abt the newer versions as i rode the PB1. So i.e if you are heavy and you have a pillion also heavy then its not a recommended bike. But CB400 has got very good handling for SG road. i.e traffics and turns. And its common in SG thus alot of assessories and add ons for CB400.

As for CB750 wat i had experience is that its a little of both CB400 and CB1000. It has got power that beats CB400 and has got handling of CB400 but heavier. One thing is that CB750 looks abit boxy that CB400 and CB1000. Why ppl prefer CB750 is due mainly to power as in if you are traveling long distance and have a pillion it is more comfortable as you no need to drag so much.

For CB400 you have to drag to higher RPM to get response from the bike. As for bigger cc bike you dun have to. I have not rode up north before but i will definately go with CB1000 without a doubt. P.S i think CB750 can cruise at 150km smoothly, all you need is a windscreen.

2) "Vtec". Its not that it reach a certain speed it will activate. But instead it will activate when you hit a certain RPM. i.e when you hit the RPM which the vtec suppose to activate, it will have a certain boost and you can feel the pull of your bike. But you have to have rather good response and clutch change skill to keep at that RPM when you change to higher gearing to keep the Vtec open. Feels abit like turbo hahaha... But for me old man i still prefer carberator models. But Vtec has been proven great invention and new technology.

thnks again bro. sori 2 impose dis 2 u again, but hw much is a 2nd or 3rd hand s4 cost? im thinking of riding it 4 a year + just 2 get use 2 d feel den trade in with a bigger cc bike after i get my clas 2. actualy wanted 2 buy a weekend car but after having much tot, id rather stick with 2 wheelers.

Im seriously not too sure abt this. Depending on which year and which model you are buying. For old S4 its roughly abt 3-4k. Vtec version slightly higher due to younger age. You can check out the prices tht ppl are selling on the garage sections. Quite afew selling. I think bike shop even more. You can scout ard before you get one. No prob cheers. Happy scouting.

Welcome to the freedom of a 2 wheeler. :)

Well, it is the same question I asked myself 2 years ago ..... which bike to buy?

CB 400

CB 750

CB 1000

CB 1300

After much consideration .... i chose a CB 750

Why? u may ask ..... it is the most simple bike among the 4 CBs.

a) No radiator ..... no water leakage

b) road tax is not that high, as compared to a 1000 or 1300.

c) in its stock condition, CB 750 can outrun a stock CB 400 anytime.

d) it shares alot of common parts with CB 400 ..... so spare parts not really an issue

e) the oil filter for my CB 750 RC42 is only six dollars from most auto shop .... the model is C-806 vic.

CB 750 is a simple bike with plenty of torque that you will not find in a CB 400.

O.o you mean traffic light boost off or whole winding road?

I mean in a normal start and run condition. The torque that is in the bigger cc engine will accelerate quicker than a stock CB400.

Hi Guys

I ride a CB1300 down here in Sydney

http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff302/cornerman_photos/BerowraMeet.jpg

I am a bit of a forum junkie and check into the CB1300 forum regularly. I am always on the lookout for interesting accessories, most recently I found these items

http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff302/cornerman_photos/Hugger.jpg

and

http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff302/cornerman_photos/RadGuard.jpg

Right now I am trying to track down a fairing and a belly pan.

I particularly like this design

So let me know if you have any leads.

And of course if you want to meet up for a ride sometime just let me know :cheeky:

Thanks for the link bernard - I PM'd pinoyVTEC with my enquiry.

I was lucky with the radiator mesh, I found a guy selling it as good as new

The old school fairing picture I borrowed from Huggable who hasnt posted for a while. I was hoping that he would notice and tell me where he got his from.

Sure if you come to Sydney we can go for a ride . You will be surprised how quiet the road are

Some pics from last week ends ride

if u r a diy guy .... try opening the meter like i did to my JDM cb750.

i found the power cut unit at the back of the speedometer.

remove the power cut unit and your meter can go pass the 180km marking

however, do prepare:

screwdriver set - those that can screw spectacle type

containers to store all those screws, bolts and tiny components.

markers of different colours to do markings on which socket goes where

cloth to clean the face of the speedo and rpm meter and even some special stickers to make yr meter stand out from the rest :thumb:

Izit... no wonder i wack all the way at NSHW and only saw 180. Where the rest told me already hit 200+ and the previous owner told me he hit 230.... no matter how hard i try i still get 180 on my dash...
