Are all bikes without fairings known as naked bikes? :)

Depend. Cos choppers and cruisers also no fairing. So usually is Street Riding style bikes considered naked. If its a origin Sports but fairing removed its usually call a street fighter.

Most Certainly, we can get together. I am not sure if the paintwork is original, I would like to believe it is. I need to balance the carburetor though, any suggestions? Also think of H&B side bags and a Belly Pan, similar to the one of the CB1300. Big plans at the moment lah....let's see how it goes. Post some pictures of your also lah...dun shy :thumb:

Yes, thanks ;-)

been spending some time cleaning the bike. This bike has some good stability and some character.

Tires are good for tropical riding. To be honest, I have only been riding this bike for the past month. No issues with the tyres this far.

Do post your bike photos also. or organise meet up at some makan joint. I will be sending bike for carburetor balancing soon, I think it needs some refinement.:thumb:

Thanks for your info on the Dunlop GT501 ... do share more about this tyre as i am considering to change to this set when my tyres bald out

carb carburation are often not needed ... do try the following 1st:

1) turn the fuel petc0ck to "off"

2) use a long "minus" screwdriver to unscrew the fuel bowl nut; do not take out the 4 screws.

3) wait till the fuel is full drained, then tighten the 4 screws back.

4) inspect the fuel drained for any rust and water.

5) turn back on the fuel petc0ck and start the bike

if the fuel drained shows signs of rust and water... then go and syphon all the fuel out from your tank ... you will be surprise what you can find in the tank :cheeky:

i have done the above procedure 3 years ago as my bike was biked in open carpark before i take over ... and there was water in the tank :sian:

if your idling speed can hold 1,000 rpm and below ... i don't recommend you to do a carb sycronisation as it has costs me S$ 75 for such job before :sian:

hi guys..

i am from ireland and i own 3..yes 3 honda cb1300 bikes..

i own a red/white 1998 honda cb1300fw sc40...a 1999 honda cb1300fx sc40 and a 2009 honda cb1300sa-8 sc54

the sc40 models are very rare here in ireland....

my 2 friends own my other sc40,s i have owned in the past

my 98 cb1300fw sc40 is fitted with a bespoke set of cambpell sidewinder exhausts.this is the only system that they ever made for one of these bikes.2 silencers on each side of the bike.also a k+n airfilter fitted..i also have a pair of carbon cans, standard cans and a new in box set of original complete honda exhaust system for this..

i have had this bike almost stripped down..i repainted the wheels..had every visible nut and bolt taken off and had them replated in zinc..polished forks..engine cases..footrest hangers and top yoke etc etc

i also fitted sc54 rear shocks and had new suspension brackets made in stainless steel to raise the rear end..

i have owned this bike for 3 years now and will never sell it...

this is my 3rd 98 model i have owned..

i bought the silver freddie spencer cb1300fx sc40 a few monthes ago..i also repainted the wheels and took off every nut and bolt and had them replated..also did a lot of alloy polishing to it..

i bought a new cb1300sa sc54 in march 2009 and this bike is as it came off the showroom floor..no modifications..

would anyone know were i can either buy a copy or download the parts manual and service manuals for the sc40 models...i also need to know the valve clearances for the sc40 bikes...

i also own a 1976 suzuki rm125a..1978 yamaha rd250e..1981 yamaha rd250lc and 1981 yamaha dt250mx..all these bikes i restored myself..

regards and best wishes from ireland

sean

Dear Eddy;

Thanks soo much for the guidance. I have sighted the screws and will be performing the suggested steps. Starting the bike (cold start) takes some effort, but after revving say 2K Rpm for a couple of second, the bike iddles fine at 700 rpm. I also suspect that they may be collection of water in the carb cups as you said. Let's see

Also Eddy, do you have a scottoiler installed on your bike. I have heard good things about it. Only issue is there is a tubing meant for suction connected to the carburetor. Is that right. Does it affect idling or even starting?

I am not sure if the bike has the restriction as you have mentioned in your previous post. I have not done speed beyond 110Km/h yet.

At the moment I am trying to find a Belly for the bike and maybe fix side bags. Is your bike fitted with side bags?

Hope to hear from you

Rgds
