Dear Eddy;

Thanks soo much for the guidance. I have sighted the screws and will be performing the suggested steps. Starting the bike (cold start) takes some effort, but after revving say 2K Rpm for a couple of second, the bike iddles fine at 700 rpm. I also suspect that they may be collection of water in the carb cups as you said. Let's see

Also Eddy, do you have a scottoiler installed on your bike. I have heard good things about it. Only issue is there is a tubing meant for suction connected to the carburetor. Is that right. Does it affect idling or even starting?

I am not sure if the bike has the restriction as you have mentioned in your previous post. I have not done speed beyond 110Km/h yet.

At the moment I am trying to find a Belly for the bike and maybe fix side bags. Is your bike fitted with side bags?

Hope to hear from you

Juz sharing what I went thru … do try “cleaning” your tank

I do not ride often and did not install scottoiler … juz keep a small bottle and lube yr chain periodically.

If your meter is till 240km/h … then it has no restriction in the meter. However, there is restriction else where … which you need a professional to do the de-restriction. I could tell you more during kopi session as this is an open forum. I will pm you my contact number … feel free to sms me

Personally I do not recommend fixing bellypanel as our bike exhaust is low … sometimes my exhaust will scratch the high humps @ 2nd link customs and I have to crawl slowly over the hump :sian:

I don’t like side bags as with the increased width … I find it hard to squeeze thru cars :cheeky:

For your info. u can get the Hepco and Becker rear box bracket made just for the CB750. And its made in germany for approx S$200+. I got mine from a shop at the top-floor of Paya Ubi Centre called M-Technick.

Thanks for your info on the Dunlop GT501 ... do share more about this tyre as i am considering to change to this set when my tyres bald out

carb carburation are often not needed ... do try the following 1st:

1) turn the fuel petc0ck to "off"

2) use a long "minus" screwdriver to unscrew the fuel bowl nut; do not take out the 4 screws.

3) wait till the fuel is full drained, then tighten the 4 screws back.

4) inspect the fuel drained for any rust and water.

5) turn back on the fuel petc0ck and start the bike

if the fuel drained shows signs of rust and water... then go and syphon all the fuel out from your tank ... you will be surprise what you can find in the tank :cheeky:

i have done the above procedure 3 years ago as my bike was biked in open carpark before i take over ... and there was water in the tank :sian:

if your idling speed can hold 1,000 rpm and below ... i don't recommend you to do a carb sycronisation as it has costs me S$ 75 for such job before :sian:

the picture of my ride can be found here:

Hi Eddy,

My cbx750 when become hot, idling is often trying to reach 1,500 rpm. I did the carb clean and sync (there was rust it in). I was dissapointed after the job as its stilll idling very high when hot(around the same 1,500rpm). Air Filter is good condition. Can the spark plug cause high idling? I have not change those.

Another question, my bike doesn't come with the tool kit. Where can I can buy the tool to remove the spark plug? should be same as cb750. Thanks.

Dear brother gargantuan,

Thanks for taking time to show me your ride the other night. Your cbx750p is great looking

The idling screw should be in between the 4 carb. I suggest that you adjust that screw when you juz start the bike … or wear gloves as the engine can be very hot.

You try asking the toolset from boon siew, FJT or eversuccess.

Try asking FJT first as I find their price lower

yap, those 4 to 4 pipes are awesome

as bro bernardk says ... our SG regulations here are very strict :(

let's hope that in the near future, our regulations will lax ...

Thanks bro. Already play with the idling screw. there is a limit to how low you can set. If you set too low when engine is hot, the bike will have problem to start, so you have to open choke (or throttle), not natural. And then engine will keep dying off even when you move off until engine become hot. So, i have adjusted to lowest possible point without jeordising the smooth operation (engine not dying off when e.g. at traffic light 5 minutes after you move off from home). With this setting, it will slowly crept up to maximum of 1,500rpm when really hot like 20 minutes of riding then stopping at traffic light. Carb clean did remove some rust debris. Anyone installled a fuel filter to stop future debris?

Dear brother gargantuan,

There is a built-in filter at the fuelc0ck ... try cleaning it.

suggest you to do housekeeping for your fuel tank:

1) get a syphon and a big plastic/metal tank/pail (make sure that the material can tahan fuel)

2) then syphon ALL your fuel from your bike tank.

3) filter the fuel and transfer the clean fuel back to your bike tank

Alternatively, you can unscrew the complete fuelc0ck from the bike tank and you can drain the fuel this way too

thanks

yes i have tried ebay but nothing...tried ebay.co.uk and ebay.com..

as the sc40 was a japanese home market only model parts and information is very hard to find...

i do have some original dealers sales brochures for the sc40 (but not for the 98 cb1300fw sc40) that a japanese friend sent me years ago but sadly have lost touch with him...

this is the sales brochure im trying to get for my collection http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n83057105

believe me i have tried for hours on end looking for manuals....japanese text will be no problem as there are a few japanese people i know here in my home town in ireland who will translate any text for me...

like i said previuosly i have ever only seen the service and parts manuals for sale on yahoo auctions japan..

hi , here in singapore, there is a lifespan for a vehicle to be legally on the road. we call this COE (certificate of entitlement.) . when we buy a new cb750f2 from a shop at SGD$14700. we are only allow to use it for 10 yrs. as it comes with the machine, 10 years of COE. after the 10 yrs , we must renew the COE by pay $$$$$$$$$$. agian , so as to be able to ride it.

that is why i put it in a way like we r ''renting'' it.

this is singapore.
