Dear all, any of your bike got this tick tick sound coming from engine? Its quite common on cb400....

Mine is quite loud. Even its on 2-5th gear. Sometimes the sound just goes off...sometime it come back again.

Feels like a time bomb.But my mech says its ok.

 

it should be the timing chain sound.

i replaced my timing chain tensioner and all the valve tappets 2 years ago and the noise are gone

Yup, the sound is from the timing chain.....happened on one of my previous Jap bike, small problem though, but to fix it quite troublesome.

wah, how much did you get the timing tensioner changed? really need to replace all the parts in the website?

 

haha the sound will come soon, maybe next week. need to wait for the Air filter to arrive 1st.

asking to CB750 fellow biker. when your bike is running hot. does your oil alert light "the red color warning light next to the key hole" turn on? i have check the oil level and confirm enough, still when it is hot, and when the bike is not trottle (that means stop at traffic light or etc. not throttle but engine is running.) does your bike oil alert light turn on like that? hehe... maybe it is the wiring..

 

Think could be oil pump, better check early. Go agent and see if they can test oil pressure.

cb750 rc42 has hydraulic tappet ... that requires no adjustment; so it should not be valve clearance.

i changed more than just the timing chain ... gaskets plus all the valve tappets for about S$ 500 - 2 years ago

Hey max, icez dun need the k&n filter liao. coz he say his bike already is k&n. so do u want the filter? if not, then see if anyone in this forum need it 1st, then i put it on the garage sale forum liao. Cheers!

The CB750 seems to be air-cooled, but of course, its the air that cools down the oil and engine, but its still considered air-cooled

The Pulsar is oil + air cooled.

the oil cooler is item 3 as in diagram

it helps the bike to stay COOL

wow...heard the sound liao....its fierce, till i scared too. haha looking for silent baffles to make it more tame.

 

bike still in shop to do other stuff before it can come out.
