Just want to ask a question.

Are sports bikes more difficult to control than road bikes or other types of bikes? Are their controllability compromised for better maneuvering, cornering, speed, acceleration, brakes, etc?? If yes, by how much?

Thanks!!

For first timer, it may get some getting used to. The first time I rode a 2B sports bike, I felt the posture was uncomfortable. My feet were further back than I was used to, and my arms felt tired after a while. Since some of my body weight was on my hands (due to the forward posture), I initially found it harder than usual to even flick the turn signal.

But after a hour of riding around, I got used to it, and it felt no different from a regular street bike other than the slightly uncomfortable posture. Control was no problem. I didn't feel any less control than any other bike.

Also note that different sports bike has slightly different riding posture(some more aggressive than others), so it's quite impossible to answer your question "by how much". My suggestion is to rent or borrow such a bike and ride it around.

Its a different riding posture from street bikes, but easily adaptable to it. When i got on my sports bike right after i pass tp, it took me less than an hour to get use to it already. Shouldn't be much of a problem if you really like that particular sports bike. We learn to adapt to situations!

I know that sports bike are most uncomfortable for long distance ride, whereas sport-tour bike are more suitable for longer distance riding

Both of you took like at most 1h to familiarise the bike, but i think i will take much longer lol cuz i took quite a bit of numbers for my Lesson 1 to 4

What gives you an impression that sports bikes are more difficult to control?

Basic riding principles are the same. It's the comfort level on different categories of bikes.

Don't worry too much. Get whatever you like and ride your machine.

Have fun!

Posture wise they are more tiring than other, but it put lots of weight in front which in turn have better braking. And sport bikes usually have better road holding. Depend what you prioritize, road holding vs comfort??

There not much difference at all. It is all bike and the fundamental is all the same.

Just get the type of bike u like.

Just get use to the bike and when whole

bike is under your control so even a scoot u can ride like a sport bike.

BTW different make got different design so your question cannot be answer till u have particular models to compare with.

Sport bikes do a couple of things that will impact the handling of the bike. First, they design the weight forward, putting more weight over the front end increases the load during braking. Sport bikes has a more aggressive steering geometry, particularly with a steeper rake which point the bike forward in exchange for rider posture or comfort. These in term load the front when braking and resulted in better road holding during hard braking. Higher load in front means better components in front, inverted forks, radial brakes, fully adjustable sus and better feel.

Waa, very technical, didnt quite catch them haha

But still thanks for your info, maybe when i start to ride a sports bike i can understand better

Too general.

Are you comparing a sportbike to a goldwing or a honda wave?

Are you talking about being on a R1 or cbr150?

sport bike riding posture is easier to control at higher speed. Easier to lean, therefore easier to corner. But it is difficult to control at low speed. A good example are the stunt riders, they have their sport bike handle bar rise so that they can maneuver easier at slow speed.

Hard to ride? Then i must be a fool to ride my Daytona all the way to Hatyai

In fact I find more comfortable to ride sport bike for touring, with a tank bag you can just lie onto the tank for low profile stance and happily cursing at >200kph...

it's all up to individual.... personally on NSH I like sports bike too as it gives you greater control.

I rode Z1000 once to Sepang and I hate it... lol
