main rider revoked, sub rider can still carry on riding till end of insurance ?

Hi guys,

 

need some help and clarifications. Hope you guys can help me out here! =)

 

I am looking to buying a bike from a bro here.

 

There's a few prob though.

 

I wanna COI from him, meaning just add sub-rider to his insurance, sign up an agreement and then just take over the bike from him till I pay finish the installments.

 

But the prob is , his license was revoked:

- so can he still add sub rider at this point of time ?

- and if let's say he can add sub rider, is it still legal for me to ride his bike if I am the sub rider ?

 

reason why i am not paying full cash for the bike is because it cost a damn extra $300 if I settle the installment early, and with the 300 added in, the deal seem normal liao...

check wit his insurance whether can insure him under non-rider..

means u as the sub only can ride..

he cannot..

even insurance hv xpired, wen renew it, u hv to tell d insurance company or motoshop dat d owner is nt riding(non rider)... u stil end up as a subrider..

ur fren hv to b dere wen u renew, or he cn do it for u..

but if insurance under ur name means u nid to do transfer of owner which he doesnt want to coz it cost xtra 300 bucks ofr early settlement...

yes, motoshop do ask u 4 driving lic...

but if u do not own 1, dey wil reg d bike under ur name but nt s a rider...

like my fren did...

sorry for riding on ur thread... but i thought perhaps we can share the information since it's got to do with insurance too.. =p

 

I would like to know if it is possible for me to purchase a motor insurance policy under my name for the bike. However, I am not the legal owner of the bike. I have a personal written binding agreement with the owner that I will take full responsibility of the bike. Hence I am authorised by the owner to use and ride the bike.

 

My question is, although my friend is legally the owner of the bike, but can I buy insurance under my name ONLY? That is, I want to buy insurance coverage for the bike and 3rd party under MY name. I do not want to include my friend's name in the insurance as my friend will NOT be riding or using the bike at all.

 

I would like to purchase an insurance coverage under my name, and to add another sub-rider under the same insurance as me, totally leaving out the owner of the bike.

 

Is this possible? Will there be any implications should a claim arise?

 

or must the bike be covered under insurance that has the owner's name in it, no matter what? that is, insurance with owner's name + my name as sub-rider (but this is something that i do not want.)
