What is this piece component on the left side of the Versys? I notice my 2010 model don't have this. Please refer to the picture.

I saw this pics at the djboys post. I suspect is a revise location of the air box. The current air box can only be access if the tank is removed, which is not very touring friendly.

it's not economically sensible to have different apparatus on the same bike. unless the regulations requires it. i am still inclined to think that it's some emission control unit. lemme dig around.

as i have suspected :

this came from my versys manual. strange that it is absent from my versys though.

Are you sure those MY bikes are in stock condition? Even mine is only up to 180 max. Just because 1 or 2 can achieve that speed, dpesnt mean all can la... After all this bike is not meant for speed, plus how often do you ride at 200kmh?

I went to Motormatic on Saturday morning. I had my air filter and sparky replace, wow I can feel immediate improvement on the ride. Very much smoother than before. I think it must be the drop in performance of the old sparky. I had the stock air filter, i think it helps too.

It cost me about 200MYR.

The most costly item are the sparky….

I think my tall windshield is the main contributor for high FC. Considering replacing it.
