i was thinking mayb u can install the race shield?? cause i heard it wil block off UV.. so mayb u can try checking it out ?

RACEshield does not block of UV-rays. Blocking off UV-rays is not advisable as it will result in 2 tone paintwork. Simple example of 2 tone paintwork :-

1. 6 years later of tank-bra usage (My ex 6 year old '00R1 tank had a darker OEM paintwork with permanent fine scratches underneath + crack decals)

2. Tank pad shape of darker color after removal for a change due to wear & tear.

RACEshield is UV-stable, meaning its aliphatic urethane does not crack or creep or yellow fast with UV rays. It allows UV to pass through, not exhibiting ugly 2 tone paintwork with years to come, thus an even paintwork.

so far still no "real" comments on how to prevent the white from turning Yellowish ??

josephsbs is right ! Yellowing is primarily caused by UV rays. In case of non yellow product, the turning "yellow" = color fading. There is nothing that will block off UV unless whatever is used for shielding is opaque or sunscreen SPF 100.

To reduce the "aging process", automotive wax/paint protection system can be used. Try to look for those with Carnauba used. These highly salt/UV/weather resistant compound that is very commonly used in the marine industries (Yatch/boats). They are very well known is resist sea/salt water+extreme sun conditions. Maxima's Spray & Shine is highly recommend as it not only exhibits the above qualities mentioned, it is also a good safe cleaner for hard stains that most shampoos cannot removes. Another plus point is is it does not leave whitish stains of edges (OEM stickers, hole openings of components).

Thank You.

thanks for the explaination.... :) .... but isnt it better to do the whole bike? then like that no need to wash and wax the painwork of the bike le??

I also wish to do the whole bike. But it is not necessary like I what I advise to many. Put better $$ spent on important areas like, headlights, front cowl, front fender tip+sides, side upper & lower cowl leading edges & tank. The kits are comprehensive & pretty much geared towards these vulnerable areas where damage occurs when riding, fast or slow.

Bikes by nature get dirty easily due to "open wheel" concept (formula cars-->F1, F1000/1600/2000, indy cars). Wash & wax is subjective to bike owners. I can't stand it dirty. So wash & wax is part & parcel of riding to me. Its just a matter of the frequency to get my bum down on a potentially "resting" weekend. :cheeky:

So easier product to clean & less stone/chipping damage usually made my cleaning less time consuming (& less sweaty too!) :cheeky:

Thank You.

hmm.. just to add on, i do frequent waxing to my bike.. and i still find turtle wax is e best.. my paintwork already going to be 2 years and theres still no yellowish2 kinda stuffs. so yeah, my guess is do yr waxing regularly and it'll prevent e yellowish clr frm popping out from yr paintwork..

PS: My bike is an all white SP. pearl white actually. no stickers etc. i simply love e shine. hahaha.

hands on thread becomes advertising thread?

innards, apart from questions regarding RACEshield are enlightened, ways of reducing yellowing on paintwork are also highlighted.

Thank You.

I bought a white colour helmet recently... it's a 13 year old model. It was brand new in box, with the plastic wrapping all intact and unopened. But when I took it out it was already yellow.

Due to oxidation? Cannot be UV ray mah cos in the box all these 13 years.

why dont respray?

only factory or premium re-spray is acceptable else you will ruin the colour when u polish or wax.

When you buy good wax they will ask is it for factory spray or its respray.

Both of them use different waxing

Waxing don spoil ur bike surface my friend. Those that damages the bike are the cheap ones.

Wax like Swissvax, Zaino, Zaimol are good wax that exhance ur colour dept of the bike.

A good wax produce better surface colour when wax are applied more on the surface. Normally each coating can be applied after 24 hrs.

But for most, we applied every week as that is conveniet for us.

PS : If a wax really destroy one looks, Ferrari wont be wax n polish coz the wax that they use are premium price. $10k a bottle est
