just a thought, cos Wave125 is a " underpowered " bike, cos of a very good fuel consumption, so there won't be a " significant " increase when changed to a better plug, or like what Pauche said, it's just better firing or in the case of Iridium plugs, better firing, more cleaner + better fuel economy...

if u want performance, changed the CDI, exhaust, etc..... :cheeky:

But I think Wave u change to Racing CDI, and exhaust in Singapore like din increase the performance at all leh...It's like satisfying ownself thinking that ur bike got racing CDI alraedy, more powerful. :nono: :nono: :nono:

hi to all wavers....got a few question to ask u all.....thanks for all replys

a)how to clean the chain

b)i experience a sound when i change to higher gear at a lower speed, seems like the chain is dropping out, but the the chain is quite tight

c)when i drop gear, it seems like engine brake rather strong...

d)the tube at the engine seems to leak out engine oil...

e) which chain lube is good for wave cos i'm currently using putoline o-ring chain lube..

sorry for asking so many question cos i just bought my bike.....thanks a million

hello

welcome to the honda wave thread :bounce:

a)how to clean the chain

ans: depends on thorough u wanna clean yr chain actually...the original chainguard consist of 2 portions...upper and lower..

for access to e lower half of the chain...u can take out the lower chainguard... secured by only 2 size 10 bolts...

if u prefer to access the whole chain...then u need to take out the upper portion of the chainguard as well...juz need to take out more bolts...that's all...

and i assume u know what to use etc to clean the chain lar

b)i experience a sound when i change to higher gear at a lower speed, seems like the chain is dropping out, but the the chain is quite tight

ans: how low is yr so-called low speed? i change frm gear3-4 when it reaches abt 50-60kmph...anything lower than that would probably result in some weak acceleration + some vibrations frm the chain...it' s simply due to insufficient speed for that particular gear

so maybe u can go try change gear at slightly higher speed? see whether if the prob still occurs....but pls dont overdrag the rpm as it's harmful to the bike's mechanism

c)when i drop gear, it seems like engine brake rather strong...

ans: this is due to the absence of clutch...if u cant change the bike to suit u...u can change yrself to suit the bike...drop yr gear only when the bike is really at very slow speed...especially for gear 1...so personally i try not to down to gear 1 until seconds before i come to complete stop lor

and by the way...if u happen to notice...if u were to step the gear lever backwards(downgear) and hold it in the raised position..the bike is actually in a freegear stage...this may be helpful to some pple...but not all

d)the tube at the engine seems to leak out engine oil...

ans: not sure which tube u r refering to...so perhaps u should consider dropping by the motordiam where u bought the bike frm and ask their mechanic?

for me..i dont have any tubes at the engine area that's for oil to flow out frm...

e)which chain lube is good for wave cos i'm currently using putoline o-ring chain lube..

ans: up to individuals..but if u r using the original chainguard...chances are u dont really need to lube the chain so frequently...cause the original chainguard kind of encloses the whole chain...so dirt + water + yrself doesnt really have much access to the chain that easily..

for me...im still using my old bottle of PJ1

disclaimer: above responses r purely IMO...any other opinions would be gladly entertained as well

Why not put a portable radio in the box and remove as and when u like it loh! like that u can also save on the lisence fee plus 100% flexiblility! When u riding just blast the music loud loud so that its like having the redio on the bike! hee

:faint:

haha

like that will have 2 problems:

1. for smaller portable radios...sound frm speaker not loud enough compared to pipe

2. need to replace the batteries often for max-ing the volume of the poor portable radio :help:

has anyone tired to take out the exhaust heat cover on the exhaust? there are 3 screws on the cover. it seems to be ultra tight. the reason i want to take out is to clean the area blocked by the cover.

wah...got need or not? haha..juz used water to spray underneath the cover is more than enough liao bah...

or try to squeeze a length of cloth underneath it to clean also can..

remember not to attempt taking out the screws when exhaust is still warm/hot

cause the screws r still in expanded state..u may end up damaging the track of the screw when forcing out the screw

perhaps u can consider spraying some WD40 or LPS onto the screw 1st and allow some time for the chemical to react then try taking out the screws again?

:goodluck:

its still super tight after spraying WD 40. if too much force is used, the screw head may be damaged. i think only an electrical screwdriver has the torque to loosen it.

by the way, i have seen some waves that has a POSH engine cover. is that made of plastic or metal? can that cover endure the engine heat?
