Hey guys, I've just met an accident whereby a taxi cut into my lane and cause me to hit on the right of his rear end with my left signal light cover.

Damage wise, a broken left signal light cover, scratches on my left slider, damaged left scoop of the radiator and paintwork on the frame.

This happened at about 12.25pm today along PIE (Tuas) before Steven Road exit on the rightmost lane.

A witness have also supported my claim in that the taxi, in trying to overtake me, cut into my lane and caused the accident. I also have his contact number and details.

I have already made an IDACS report and proceeded down to Unique at Toh Guan to assess damage and claim against the other party, however, what was told to me by the guy in charge was that I am on the losing end of this bargain and advise me on doing "direct claiming". Is it even possible?

Any advice on how should I go about making claim against the taxi driver?

I apologize for putting my problem forward to bother you guys but I really do not have any ideas other than what was told to me and also this is my 1st accident ever.

IMO, those guys are not so well verse in doing claims. you should have brought your bike to Planet motors. i was in the same situation (much worse i just say but same nature of crash) last year june. everything was eventually settled within 3 months. i didn't have to come out a single cent plus i got compensation. the other party got fined $200 and 9 demerit points to his belt.

one of the forumers also had an accident before and sent his bike to the shop you mentioned but the old eunos one. clear cut it was the other party's fault but yet, the guys there were hesitant to make the claims at first.. it as only after much pesteration they decided to go ahead..

not that i'm saying its a bad shop. its just that they may not be well versed in terms of accident claiming..

And then, there was blue.

Did this for another gsr, not mine. The blue is pretty sweet and the glow under the needle is WICKED.

Anyone interested in getting theirs done in white/blue/red/green?

If ya'll are DIYing on Sunday, I can swing by and pick up the meters to bring back to my workstation to get them done. Turaround time is 1hr per meter excluding removal from the bike. One time event. Price depends on no. of ppl and colour. First green / red gets disc! Need pictures for those 2 colours. For more details pls email [email protected].

Wow im very much impressed with the white lights! I dont mind getting it done to my bike.. im staying at kallang, also possible to meet at ur place of convinience.. Let me know bro! thanks!

Hey, bro. Hope you're alright. I'm facing the same problem with you, a very similar accident happened to me just now at 11plus outisde Khatib NTUC. A taxi tried an illegal u-turn from the leftmost lane just as i was overtaking him and i went straight into the right side of his car. Lucky I slowed down when cos I found it weird that he was signalling right and moving very slowly. Thank God my girlfriend and i are alright, but my rear brake lever broke. Due to little damage I'm most likely going to settle this directly with him, but any idea what I should do now? Got witness and photos, exchanged particulars and all. Most likely sending to workshop and asking him to foot the bill.

I don't know if there are any workshops recommended to repair the bike and where to get the brake lever. Sigh, not feeling very good now. Hope you guys can help with suggestions. :dozed::cry::sian::(:faint:

Hey yaz, hope you are alright too. Consider Planet motors, at 3007 Ubi road 1, like few of our GSReans mentioned that they do a good job on repairs and in my case, claiming of insurance. I will be heading down there in like 1 hour time to do assessment of damage, repairs and claims.

OEM Suzuki 400/600 parts are avaliable at Loois and Guan Hoe (Authorized dealer for Suzuki) (although they deal only in 600 but they do have parts that fits 400). Might consider doing your repairs at Loois too.

Do standby all your information you got regarding the accident as you may not know if the other party changes mind and decided to do a **** and bull story and claim your insurance.

I think it is better for you to make an IDACS report 1st since they mentioned that they do have a form for settlement between the involved parties.

that stretch of road is dangerous.. from the pedestrian lights to the road infront of SPC. cars ike to dash out from the petrol kiosk and U-turn after buying newspaper at the mobile stand opposite the petrol kiosk.. as for the NTUC side, cars dash out to turn right from the gantry parking and pedestrians like to cross the road even though its green. take care dude.

normally for me, taxis i don't give chance. driving a taxi doesn't mean they have the right to u-turn as they please. no offense to those nice taxi drivers who follows laws but i'm sorry to say 90% of them are the bad apples.

i prefer the carbon fiber ones as my bike got carbon parts already but i need ones that are legal too bro. the route i use to go work is littered with LTA as they like to camp out to catch those over-loaded sand trucks. imagine if i were to speed along (as i'm frequently late for work) and the LV are singing loud..

hey guys. i've been getting roughly 19-20km/l on my gsr400. is this an expected amount, just to compare with what you guys usually get? usually im at gear 5 from 90-105km/h most of the time during expressway travel.

Perhaps can check it out with G-Max and ask if they have the carbon fibre available (LTA approved) Just on another note the carbon fibre that i had previously was for a 600 and i dont forsee any problem on having it being LTA approved. I was lucky that i managed to use it for a year though. :cheeky:
