ya.. it sounds complicated. Any recommended shop for such servicing? I dun wanna risk messing up the internals of the bike.

None that I know of. The instructions are avaible on the Web. All similar to EFI bikes. Only where the TPS is located maybe different.

You guys might wanna try Republic Motors, when I last checked, they are still bringing the GSR400. However, I have forgotten when did I asked...haha so don't blame me if they are not bringing in the Suzuki beauty already!

Oh, with regards to the Primary TPS, I only succeeded on the 2nd try...the 1st was disastrous! :faint::faint:

It is due to this set of babies (well not really, I only used 1 of the tools, the T25 bit. :p) that I am able to get to the TPS.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y88/lexanez/IMG_5884.jpg

On my 1st try, I managed fine til when it comes to the adjustment of the primary TPS. I managed to took out the connector for the secondary TPS with the help of the smallest tool out of the kit. After which I proceeded to loosen the primary TPS and then that is where all hell broke loose, I actually drop the tool inside the bike before I could even loose the security screw for the primary TPS. :sian:

I managed to retrieve back the tool and unscrew screw connecting the TPS...and it came out of its position! I was already quite panicky and with the screw which I had tons of trouble trying to screwing back in (The position is quite awkward as there isn't much clearance between the TPS and frame for my big hands), and I dropped the tool inside the bike again, this time deeper inside and I spent ages trying to get it back. Also I actually adjusted the TPS too high in the end because I was like giving up already and just want to put the bike back together. Riding the bike was...really unpleasant afterwards. :sian::sian:

Total time spent, 4 hours! :faint::(

Bout few days later, I did more research and head down to do the TPS again. This time I removed the STPS but before I do so, I marked out the position of the STPS, would't want to ruin its default setting now, would I?

With the STPS off, I had more clearance to loosen the screw and adjust the primary TPS, just a little bit up will do, making sure that the '-' in -C28 (In dealer mode, due to some parts being off, the error code kept on flashing) changes on point where it just switches from middle to high, blip my throttle to ensure that the '-' remain on high position, screw in the STPS with the Throttle bodies CLOSED (Important! The manual states that they must be open which is wrong!), screw in back everything and there, its done!

Total time taken: 1 hour (Much patience is needed to tighten the security screw for the primary TPS, and oh, ensuring that the tool doesn't drop inside the engine, again!) :D

A lesson well learnt, I must say. The results was beautiful once I managed to get it done alright! I actually rode for about 30 mins after I fixed everything because it was so so so smooth.

Also, I blew my fuse the last time when I was installing the LEDs on my bike too...haha. Too hasty already!

I wish...I could say that I knew Japanese :D

Yeah, I used the GSR600 manual (It is like my bible!). Hmm, the only thing electrical to me is the dealer plug where you got to short it with a piece of wire.

Actually the process sounds simple, unscrew everything, remove the signal sides, lift up the fuel tank, remove the STPS, loosen primary TPS screw, adjust it, tighten and put it back together.

The problem is that, when you go down and do it, you realize its like trying to do a "brain surgery though your nose" (A quote taken from a dude from Suzuki-GSR.uk) so lots of patience is needed.

Why not head down to the DIYs? Lots of people to get tips from! I'll try my best to go down too, really ashamed to say that I haven't been to any of those.

Oh, most shops won't touch your TPS too. I've enquire several and they gave me reasons like, "Aiya, factory settings don't disturb la", "My many years experience on the road is that touching the TPS is a bad thing", "PC3 better, I got stock I can sell you", "Huh? What toking you?"...

Not necessarily. Done mine and others without lifting out any major components. Patience, correct tools, and ladies fingers are all that you need hahah. Adjust too much, you will lose engine braking, Adjust too little, the jerk will be a jerk.

aaahhhhhh, cool cool. geez, i need smaller finger. I have fat stumps for fingers, no fun in tight spaces. nice to know, will get to work on it. been using a slipshod fix of increasing the idle till it's high enough that the TPS reads on the high bar. guess i can back it off now and fix it properly.

cool! never thought of that. I took one look at the STPS and decided I wasn't gonna muck around with removing that.

So, essentially remove the STPS then can use the angle torx to get at the TPS to loosen it?

Oh yerh, you mentioned having the secondary throttle plates closed as well when reinstalling the STPS. shutting off the bike will close up the secondary plates aye?

Smile! Tomorrow will be worse.

Yeah, with the STPS off and move to one side, there is definitely enough clearance for the angled torx to go in and do what it should do. My hands are big (I'm wearing XL gloves!) and I'm able to do it so I don't think you'll have much of a problem.

Right, just restart the engine and the plates will close. :D

Thanks for sharing Lexanez! I too unfortunately have not been to any of the DIYs.. I hope to learn more. Either from this thread or DIY sessions. Haha, if shops dun dare to touch TPS, who else but owners themselves have to do it eh?

No problemo! Just sharing my experience. Which are really good lessons to learn from!

As I've seen some people have mentioned, I too believed that "The best mechanic for your bike is yourself."

Yeah, I did warm up the bike til its bout 50 odd degree Celsius. Would't want to burn me hands...haha.

Oh, here's the instructions I gotten from Suzuki-GSR.uk.co as complied by someone posting in the thread with regards to this TPS adjustment.

It states as to why EFI bikes have this problem using the FZ1 as an example and of course, how to go about adjusting the primary TPS. Oh, having a GSR 600 manual around is helpful in case, you don't understand what the instructions are saying.

Usually people juz drill and put screw. Will last longer I think. And not to mention cheaper.

Anyway I am looking for folding foot levers like the one below.

Anyone knows of a compatible one?

I wonder if Dl650 one can fit on GSR.

  • Forged Steel NOT Stamped Steel

  • Folding Shift Tip with gripping surface

  • Fits exactly like O.E.M Part

  • Bronze brushing at pivot part

Hmm, yeah. These things are interesting and also the colours are quite attractive.

Reminds me, I really need to change my brake levers. Any aftermarket options or must I get it from the original dealer? Loois quoted me 100+ just for it.

Not sure if these guys carry or if any of the bros have tried and found they have/not carry em, but give KS motor a shot, along Jalan besar.

Opp ah boy side of the road, few shops before 7-11, run down looking old sch shophouse.

Bought my plugs from them, they're the distri for SGP suzook genuine parts, from japa. Boxes had the SGP logo as well as jap instructions. Figure they must be doing some kinda import?
