ok don't want to sound all catty... but next time you have a vespa q... post in the classic vespa cafe... that's why it's there!

To your problem,

Need more info...

When was the last time you serviced your scoot?

Meaning, when was the exhaust last decarbonised?

When were the piston and piston last decarbonised?

When was the carb last cleaned?

When was the last time you changed your spark plug?

All the above will make you go slower than normal if not looked after...

Do you really need to put a new kit and a carb on the scoot? How fast do you want to go?

At most I'd suggest a new piston.... like $60-80 ...

Hope this helps you....

Your tyre pressure is too high...

for single riding... it should be more like 18psi front 26psi rear... increase upto 30rear with passenger... Front should always be low....

You can expect a well maintained px150 to do 90kmh

i dunno about vespa.

but for my scoot, i pump 33psi front and 36psi rear. minimum contact with road meaning better FC and such i think. quite unstable on the straight though.

bro, vespa is made for transport. not for high speed. the old models are not like the new ones. i believe the new ones are made more heavy and aerodynamic. plus they are using the same engine as the runner.(i believe so, they all sounds the same.)

last but not least, i'm not a vespa rider. guess i wont be of help. ask the seniors in the vespa thread.

P.S. the old manual vespa is a good bike to learn wheelie. if you know what i mean :cheeky:

Welcome Zaeight :)

You will definitely feel a difference if you decarbonise your exhaust and your topend (piston and cylinder head).... This should cost you little.... in fact you can DIY this if you have the confidence... (search for help on http://www.vespamaintenance.com and http://www.scooterhelp.com)...

If a shop does the work expect to spend about 40 on a service (carb clean, and topend clean and new plug)... and about $30 having your exhaust decarbonised...

Like you say, if cash is low... definitely do these things first before you consider spending money on a kit and a bigger carb...

Good luck :)

Busy working on my scoot!

The ET8 fork conversion is now in progress....

The fork is in... the fender, well that's going to take some time! Hopefully this chap that Yusri knows in JB will have some ideas about how to mount a px fender on an et fork....

The DC conversion is done... I now have much better electrics... "I many happy :)"

hi peeps. if lets say i buy a otw to scape PX150 from motor shops for about 800. how much will the insurance be? i'm 18 years old. first bike. if i do restorations, painting and all estimated how much will it be? cause i must start saving. (:

Mod The Impossible... that's a great line.... :) Yeah, I'm quite certain Chong thinks I'm Mad :)

Duckdee... what does otw to scape mean... do you mean on the way to scrap? ie. a really beatup scoot?

Depending on what 'restoration' you want... i'd budget up to 2k... so total cost for bike 2.8k... insurance about $500 (prices are going up I hear)...

Really suggest that you restore slowly... as a new rider it is inevitable that your shiny new paint will get scratched...
