actually, i will agree with keiyong that the most powerful part of the bike is actually the braking system rather than the engine cos for the time you need to accelerate, you probably need less time to deccelerate...

i always tell myself that i have still have alot of things i wanted to do in my lifetime... i am really not about trade that in with some moments of excitement...

but still i do take calculated risk on the NSHW... :cheeky:

i cant really say to get or not to get a FS... it is really a matter of personal preferred and fiancial condition...

my FS is actually a second hand one... previous owner only used it for 3 months, condition is really good and i managed to shave off more than half a grand... too good an offer to resist...

Everytime you jump on a bike it's a calculated risk, that is why discipline and maturity is important. Going fast is great not only for "clear carbon" but also good for health(to get your adrenaline flowing once in awhile), but it has to be done with knowledge..of your bike, the road and weather condition and your temperament (ie not because someone pissed you off). We want to be safe as we all have things we still want to do, but striking a balance is what's most important.

Eh, where your lobang to get second hand yoshi? Was thinking of bringing in myself cos seen oval Yoshi's overseas, but not sure what's the requirements to get it approved by LTA.

Actually, you are right. statistic have shown that there are few accidents on the Germany autobahns than normal roads dispute the road without speed limit. People who go on the autobahn and more alert and concentrated behind the wheels.

when i am burnin the rubber, i too, paid alot more attention on the surrounding and the respond of my bike. the adrenaline rush is something that can be really addictive.

then again, i guess it is also the feeling of suppression, in SG, everyone is just sticking to the speed limit, going on the NSHW is quite liberating to be able to whack to your hearts content without worrying having your license suspended... kekeke..

Found an answer to my own question liao...there is a thread in this forum called "why pay more" and maintained by gene36 who is doing a great job updating and compiling the shop list addresses etc.

motorworld? just go to http://www.yellowpages.com.sg and type in the company name...

anyway, i dun really like mxxxrwxxxld... stupid place charge me $50 for installation the full system which was previously bought from them by the previous owner... in my opinion is not such complicated work. can acutally DIY if you dun mind the trouble (yes, i am lazy!) and $15 for the so call 'paperwork' which is just to fill up 2 forms and put their rubberstamp on it...

to me it is a rip off...

then again, what choice do we have... cos personally i dun think it is worthwhile to bring an aftermarket exhaust in yourself cos all the trouble and you still have to check for all the importing legal procedures... and you need a motorshop to 'certify' the install and model is street legal...

Actually I love DIY work cos I do not like the way most of these guys do their work or treat my bike.

Don you need some documentation from manufacturer to certify that the pipes meets some kind of standards? Think you are right and I should just lookout for one locally.

when i go to bike shop, usually will try to pick up a name card and keep it in my lil black name card book for bikes stuff so that anytime when i want something, i can just refer to it. tel : 6844 0792 is motoworld's tel no.

my bike mostly DIY as well but by hubby & friends. save time save money and great interaction time. beats sitting at bike shop rotting away when ur bike's being done by someone else  in any case, i always ended up as the kopi soh! hehe

101% agree... i dun like the way some bike shop service bikes... quite anyhow...

sometimes stand by the side see already also heart pain (for the owners).

at mxxxrwxxxld, the fellow who attend to me is really snobbish... following is an extract of conversation:

me : "how long will you need to install the full system?"

him : "we about lunchtime already. we will start after 2pm."

me *look at watch about 1pm*

me : "so when can i collect my bike?"

him : "see loh... between 3 - 5pm."

me : "so where can i put my full system"

him : "just put anywhere."

me : "then my bike?"

him : "leave it outside lah."

:faint: :faint: :faint:

and oh yes, about the specifications...

as i mentioned, there are 2 piece of paper for the so call paperwork... 1 is the specification, the other is their ceritification on installation + rubber stamp.

so yeah, i think when they say LTA approved aftermarket, i believe there are only limited numbers. so you maybe able to get a FS from other countries which are meant for S4... that does not gurrantee you the specifications are approved by LTA.

Can just feel how it's like to get that kind of treatment from a shop who thinks he is only doing you a favour, forgetting you are a customer...what to do since you need them as they have the required paperwork for the "Authorities".

Does it mean that if I have one approved one and DIY install, it will never be approved? What makes Motorworld so special that their installation is certified?

know what you mean, our Little Lords sitting in LTA have very narrow visions and cannot see beyond a few models/brand. To start with, they have no standards of their own so we adopt either UK, Japanese or US standards...so what does "LTA Approved" really mean? :giddy:

Sometimes so frustrating...

guys, there's something tat i really dun understand.......i got a yoshi and was told tat i can only use it for my s4 and i can't swap it ard w my cbr400 cos it's only LTA approved on the s4. i mean this doesn't quite make sense to make cos each pipe comes w a serial no. and am sure it can be traced to the owner rite? doesn't this sound so silly? sheesh it's frustrating.

Sheesh...since when does LTA make sense? That's why I sad earlier "sometimes so frustrating" so I know exactly how you feel. Don't say from your S4 to your CBR400 (wah you got second bike ah?) but even from one S4 to another also cannot...what's te difference? The LTA approval is for the rider , owner, bike or exhaust? Totally senseless except they make a few bucks everytime we go for inspection.
