All are welcome, I will copy all the pirate Garmin CDroms (Europe, Australia & World) into 1 DVDrom for those who comes. I think I counted 4 ppl so far. I'll combine the CDs into 1 DVDrom, and give each person 1 dvd. If you want to know details of the Garmin CDrom maps, you can check at the Garmin website, they selling it.

There are 2 ways to load the above maps into your Garmin GPS. First way is by installing those CDroms above, then use Mapsource software (given with the Garmin GPS) to transfer them over to the GPS.

The second way is only if your GPS has expansion memory slot, you remove the memory card, put into a USB card microSD or SD card reader, simply copy the *.img map files into the SD memory card directly. Both ways work perfectly for me. All the Europe, Australia & World maps are in *.img format. The total memory is about 800mb.

...............................

Likewise for PDA GPS's Garmin Que, I believe it works the same. The *.img files can be transfer to a folder within the PDA's memory card. Then use Garmin Que to browse/search for those files. Once you open them, the basemaps of Australia, Europe will be updated within the PDA.

Hi tim,

I would like to join in tonight's session on your GPS demo at King's Albert Mac.

Is is convenient for you to burn one copy of the maps for me too?

The difference between your Garmin Vista CX & my Legend CX is yours got electronic compass & altimeter. Your GPS compass dun need to rely on the satellites - faster , my Legend CX 's internal compass is using GPS signal to compute the North bearing.

Anyway, having a GPS means you can ride your bike confidently to any big city in the world, KL or Bangkok or whatever, and never get lost.

Next outing I'll sms you the GPS coordinates of new places eg. Taman U A&W, the thrill is to find the place with the GPS.

the thrill of riding independently in a unfamiliar foreign town or city towards your destination without fear or worry of losing your way - is the reward itself. You basically focus on enjoying the ride, rather than trying to memorise the way back.

See how detailed you can zoom into any city with your pocket GPS. Notice there are thousands of cities & towns in Europe. Take the example of zooming into London city. All these details on the screen snapshot is exactly what you can view on your pocket GPS. Notice how detailed London city's roads & lanes looks when you zoom in. Imagine the whole world maps like this in your pocket GPS.-->
