we didn't go to the pasar malam, coz a bit late after sending that lady back. But we did circle within Taman Johore Jaya & noticed its full of makans places & shops & night life.

.....................................

Hard to suit everybody for the Malacca trip. Many people prefer to commit on the last week, some commit on the last day. Maybe on the 5th Dec, we'll see how many people can commit on 9th Dec sat & confirm it.

I am sure many bikers dun want miss the Mt Ophir waterfall. The bikes also can conveniently parked in front of the Mt Ophir 5 star resort, and waterfall only stone throw away.

Also the Gadek Hotspring in Malacca is rated 5 star in the website, as compared to the 2 star batu pahat hotspring we went earlier.

Tim, actually I'm more interested to climb mount ophir... :cheeky:

Or are there any places we can ride up the hills and mountains and overlook the vast land below us? Man... that would be nice wouldn't it?

Thanks to you always tim for being a meticulous planner and taking the trouble to organize every single trip! Kudos!

A colleague of mine who went Mt Ophir many times said there are many waterfalls along the the way up. The one at the bottom , near to the 5 star resort is unspectacular compared to the ones higher up. I asked him if I am only willing to spend 2 hours of walking up, can I reach that "spectacular" waterfall? He can't remember. Perhaps I must ask other people liao.

Anyone knows how many hours of climbing to reach the top?

Riding up a mountain or hill for nice view? Nearest should be Genting or Bukit Tinggi only.

:slapforehead: it never occurs to me that we should have bribed the friendly security guard at the Pulai reservoir to allow us to enter. Coz, I remember the passer-by who told us the location, also said that the guard normally allows his friends to enter. :giddy:

If i did not remember wrongly, the water fall is at check point 3. In order to get there, you need to enter the national park area, which is fenced at the bottom. In the national park area, you need to pay for the guide and permit to trek up. Cost about 100RM per day for one guide. Each guide can take along 10 persons.

To reach the top, you need at least half a day. You need to start climbing at 7am in the morning in order to get back in time before nite fall. Be warned, the trial after check point 6 is quite tough. Need to scale some heights and the whole journey is quite strenous. Not suitable for the weak.

Though Mt. Ophir is lower than Mt. Kinabalu, is more difficult to climb. Get the picture.

:faint: climbing to check point point 3 is like half way up. Guess its not a option now. :sian:

mt kinabalu 13432.20 ft

mt ophir 4187 ft

bert.. let me add some points too...

u r correct 6 check points before summit. u can try to book a transfer down the road from the summit. by the road along broadcasting hill. so climb up driven down.

if i remember correctly, puteri falls is at the startpoint near the stairs. that is before cp 1. after cp 2 you will see rapid falls. ard cp 3 will be twin water falls (the one bert mention) and followed by Kolam gajah waterfalls. u b looking at about 2hrs to reach here. after here its mainly trail to the summit.

if its only 2 hrs to reach the cp3 waterfall (the spectacular one), then I dun mind giving it a shot. Coming down should be faster.

In that case , we either go for a Malacca hot spring cum Port Dickson beaches , or Mt Ophir plus 2 hour climb to reach check point 3 waterfall. Its not feasible for a hotspring cum Mt Ophir anymore.

Any comments anyone?

base to cp1 ~ 35min

cp1 to cp2 ~ 50min

cp2 to kolam gajah ~ 40min

you will be 2000ft above sea level. remember bring rainwear... and look out for flash floods when in waterfalls.

have fun!

juz a note of caution, cp1 to cp3.. the slope and steps are quite steep... be prepared to sweat it out....

Don't assume coming down is easy unless you been doing a lot of climbing before.. coming down steep slopes is no joke.. plus beware of knee injuries.......

it will be another waterfall somewhere else... why not ask your sepang kakis to come along & visit natural scenic places for a change?
