hey guys how much is the transmission bearing for gilera vxr 07 model? was told by my mech to change cos theres a weird sound when i close my throttle and my bike is slowing down..or even when stationary and throttle, after close throttle the back wheel area like got high pitch sound..so im thinking its either the transmission bearing or the rear wheel bearing..anyone experience before?

 

Don't be too quick to believe it's a bearing... 07 model and bearing issue?? Whats your milleage? Is it a knocking sound or a squeak? Bearings hardly fail especially in transmission on an auto. Sounds more like a nice sentence to throw money for nothing... times are bad i guess. Could it be your belt? Any mods?

standard bearing dun fail easily.. maybe he install speed bearing? speed bearings are known to create more noise. when wheel bearings start to wear, ur wheels tend to create a squeking noise.. i dun know wats the tale signs of worn trans bearing.. but still change them cos i noe if it fails.. the bill will not be soo nice.. trans bearing ard less than 20 .. wheels.. i think haf 3, not sure abt tis .. the main concern .... is ur mech trustworthy?

mileage ard 30k close to 40k..its more like a whistling sound..nah cant be da belt..i had my bike fully serviced before i asked my mech what the sound was..

nah i dont think he installed a speed bearing..im da first owner of the bike so yah roughly i remember the mods ive done since den..but i haf a feeling theres nothing wrong wif my bike..as i heard of other gileras with the same sound when they slow down..haha less den 20? wow..i was quoted 280..but i just ignored him..actually my mech is quite trustworthy..but yah sometimes i just get a funny feeling not to believe some of the stuffs he said..

 

anyways thanks for all the help..

Hmm..this sounds like a common prob to most gilera's..ive heard on the road a few times to some gilera and my fren has the same prob too...its like a high pitch sound dunnoe coming from where..usually when travelling at 70 and above, the sound will be heard according to my fren...sometimes i can hear the similar to my scoot but only minimal...wonder whats the prob...
