Got carbonfibre,need help on how to mould it.what do i need.

u wana diy CF parts arh? cool man..... erm. i duno much but i tink u nid a mould of the part which u wana make.... apply the resin on it. then lay 1 layer of CF, then repeat step 1 again. duno got heat anot. anybody can help?

You can use either epoxy or resin. Apply heat will speed up the curing process. However DIY method will not get you strength and rigidity as those from factory.

Mould can be made from cardboard, plywood, wire-mesh. Fabrics are laid in the cross-ply manner for added strength. The more important part is to remove the air-bubbles which the factory will use the vacuum chamber to extract all air so to achieve 100% bonding between layers.

 

Carbon Fiber (CF) fabrics are very expensive, so to learn with CF is a very costly. For beginners, you should experiment with Fiber-glass, as the process is almost identical, and it's much cheaper to fool around with.

 

Some CF parts are fibre-glass based, with only CF at the top layer. So that's another method.

On the process, just goggle it. It's not difficult, just very messy. Certain level of PPE is essential, and a zero-wind but well ventilation facility is necessary.

i came across books on carbon fibre before.. but inside too technical, canot understand.

it say carbon fibre need to be weaved together.

in d case of cf mat is it aredi weaved and juz need to be done like normal fibre?

i guess u wud need resin + hardener n make a mould
