i wonder how the big bikes going to survive??

i tink can la....going jb to pump is juz for the ride and the adrenaline rush of blasting the throttle once in awhile..... true enuff u can save half of the $$ in jb compared to sg and buy cigs still got change somemore :) but in the first place considering owning a big bike means u can afford it, to maintain it, and pumping in sg of coz! haha "dyo bo"?? singaporeans are very funny, we can spent thousands and thousands of dollars on cars, bikes, but when comes to paying parking, coupons, erp, ...which cost ard afew bucks, try to siam den kana summon and inqered (sorry dunno how to spell =)) a bigger sum.... haha.... somebody told me this which i kinda agree wif wad he said though...

My worry is not because of petrol only..I seldom pump in mesian petrol..and i prefer not to pump their petrol cause its kinda give my bike a knocking sound and donno wat sound come out sia

but totally banning from fuelling is somewhat hmmmmmmmm...I think its better to at least forcing foreigners to have unsubsidised fuel. This policy somehow makes a lot of burden to travellers and to their own business..I think the policy of paying 20rm upon entrance which they planned to implement is much more relevant than this. Anyway, like ppl said, its their country so they care for their own business lor...

I think after this, tourers will really have to plan on the way up and the way back esp those bikes with a high, pain-in-the-ass FC...and those going to thai too..cause their 50km is not based on road distance but instead radius from the border which can be more than 100km in road distance...

I thought a thought. But the thought I thought wasn't the thought I thought I thought. If the thought I thought I thought had been the thought I thought, I wouldn't have thought so much.

Its 'incurred'.

Anyway, there was a bogus mass sms that says huge discount at caltex/shell in celebration of National Day.

This fella driving a BMW drove to a kiosk, rush into the counter, n ask "really got --% discount ah??"

The couter staff, blurred, then say no.

The BMW guy just turn ard & left, driving off w/o pumping or whatsoever.

Then someone comment, "got $ buy such big car no $ pump petrol"

Yet again, its something that can save mah, cos you know this money just go into someone else's pocket except ours :sian:

aye... all the talk about petrol prices going up ah... insurance premiums up, erps... and what not...

Yeah, sure, you can save on all these discounts... but how much can you really save?

even if you say e.g. go in CBD's ERP $1 everyday, one year is already what? maybe about S$260? yeah. maybe alot... but you don't actually see this money no?

Even if they do not increase the cost of maintaining/ driving a vehicle, they will still find ways and means to squeeze money out of you... you can't deny that cost of living is going up, unfortunately, can't say the same for our pay...

at the end of the day... make so much noise... LL still must pay... :(

/sigh...

That's singapore for you my dear... ...

It's because its a everyday operating cost. a small increase have a bigger impact as compared to a one time payoff.

It's like would you purposely go thru ERP gantry paying the charges, when u know you don't have to if you were to take another route, with the approx same travelling time & dist? & it $260 per year?

yah, like what you say, the saving on these discount may not be big, but why pay more when you can pay lesser for the same quality & quantity?

Its like y many aunties would like to go chiong for sales when there is one...esp the GSS now.

yeah... true.. why pay more when you can pay lesser for the same quality & quantity?

i guess there are other intangible factors to consider as well... ...

i.e. service you're getting, time, travelling distance, the fustration you have to go tru...

i know i'd rather pay additional CBD ERP just to avoid the jam... but than again... that's only cos it happens once in awhile :p

AND exactly the reason why I'd rather pay that additional 10% or 20% just so that I don't have to go chiong the sales and the crowd... :S (tho once in awhile its fun to, depending on who you go with, and which shop also.... but than again...)

just like how some people would rather pay for ERP to get additional 10 minutes of sleep no? ;)

back to the initial topic, isnt going to pump in petrol kiosk, wont service, time travelling dist frustration br the same with or w/o the discount? anyway, when you got to pump, u got to pump mah..not as if no discount you dun go pump (in the case for the BMW driver)

You dun mind to pay additional CBD ERP to avoid jam...like you say, for your case, it happen once in a while. So its a one time payoff, not a ongoing operating cost for you mah...thats y even if they increse do not affect you...but constant increase in the petrol price, even though it seems only abit more, it snowball even when u dun ride, isnt it?

If slp 10min lesser, u still have to pay ERP, juz that the difference $0.25 & be productive for the rest of the day, maybe its a better option?

of course, i'm not expecting much service (or any for that matter) from the gas station... and yes when you gotta go you gotta go. and of course the constant increase in petrol price (and everything else) is pis'in everyone off... but what to do about it? i don't deny that i b!tch about it every other day... but stilll... bo pian... ride bicycle ... environmentally friendly, and plus, you get a good work out...

S$0.25 to be productive for the rest of the day? wahahaha.... than maybe you can try claiming that amount from your boss since it's going to make you more productive. sooner or later, your boss will be paying you to sleep liao...

its not $0.25 make me more productive. it's 10 minute of extra slp will make me more produtive at work... :p

Y claim? no need to claim from boss lah. cos i late be for work mah... Nv on time for work, nv on time to knock off.

anyway, if my boss know it gng to make me more productive at work, he will still not pay me that extra 25cents. He would rather let me slp in office for 10minutes. at least he dun have to fork out more $ n go thru the stupid paper work just to pay me more :p

aiyooo... Most of us by now already know that owning larger cc bike (>1000cc) means the owner should be able to afford running and maintaining it - at own cost. Quite often, you'll see ppl selling bikes away (some selling 1st hand after several months of ownership) because they do not have back-up funds for other living (or life-style) expenses. :nono:

Makers of those chio '08 bikes (which I'm so tempted as well) can make one feel great to own one and be proud to show it off. Yet - if one chalk up huge debts in loans, which results in having to borrow or end up having to give up the bike or chalk up losses in interest, then it is better to stick to lower cost riding....

It is a good practice that once in a while we remind each other to be prudent in spending.

yah- its either we plan our route or the move-off time or take public... and I guess that's what the gar'ment want Singaporeans to do. There are those companies who allow employees to work from home (which I bet many of us here would like). For me, i would calculate the difference in alternative route and going through ERP. If its not often, just go through the ERP.

There are alternatives to saving petrol like getting a smaller cc bike (Cub cub cub cub) or less hard acceleration to give better mileage.
