what happened.

 

I jus took over this bike less then a month. milleage was poor as compare to other super4. they get 330km before reserve while i hit only 250km like that... their is spec1 and spec3.. So seek their advise went to motordiam to service. Wash carb, plus tunning, change eo, oil filter, sparkplug. ( jus took over, feel better to change also ) result still same. went back again today. Think not much help. I asked my mechanic about this problem i have, when ever i move off ( be it from traffic light or parking ), i often feel no power and abit jerky, need to mantain half clutch to gain the power. He then tried my bike, and told me that my clutch plate wear off alrd. quoted $150 +/- there to change the whole set. if metal plate over burn, then will be $200+/-... He told me this is one of the reason to my poor milleage.

 

advise? how do i know if my clutch is really wear out? lack of power when moving off? feel jerky? is the price quoted ok? comments???

 

Changing clutch plates together with the gasket which is normally $15 to $20, totals up to $90 - $100 depends on ur bargaining power. Anything more than $110 is considered a rip-off. In addition, if the metal plates also wear off, they cost abt $15 a piece. I've forgotten how many pieces there are but I know that there is one plate between every clutch plate.

 

Your fc problem? Welcome to the world of Spec 2. Mine was a Spec 2 previously and it gave out the worse fc amongst my other vtec peers. Spec 1 can go till 380-400km in one tank, mine sadly switched to reserve when it was only 260km. Max I reached is 320km without any whacking or opening vtec.

 

As for your poor power delivery problem when moving off, yes it is 90% likely to be the clutch plates.

 

I used to practice slipper clutch on my vtec last time, practice till it became shiok and i would never again wanna use clutch sia. Till abt 1 mth plus later when I had EXACTLY the same symptoms as u did. So I went to K&T to ask clifford what was wrong with the bike. He tested and concluded that my clutch plates.

 

I said cannot be cos I just changed them less than a year ago. But I regardless I told him to open and see lor. After opening, not only the clutchplates worn out, but the metal plates in between had blackened! One look at the metal plates he looked at me and said,"You play slip clutch is it?"

 

I replied Yes with a naughty grin across my face.

 

I forgot the total damage but it was close to 200 bucks. After changing that, its okie liao.

 

ya.. what is the correct pressure. i normally front 235 back 275... plus minor abit.. i suspect some problem with my clutch plate...

 

Yep to get the optimum fc, tyre pressure must be kept to the optimum level oso. I belong to the heavy weight category and my tyre pressures were 250 front, 290 behind.

 

do u hav main stand? if so mount it up n remove mainstand...clutch in n see if ur rear tyre move fast...if so..time to replace clutch plate

 

u forgot to mention that must click to gear 1 then clutch in.

track shi fu haha......where got shifu?still a lot of things to prepare b4 i can fly on track with my bike.....full leathers,better rubbers......suspension setup....think my previous setup too hard.....thats why the tyres have difficulty gripping the road....this kind of hard set-up(got it from the net) have to be paired up with gd rubbers to have the best combination..........
