Hi guys. I think i had get over my disappointment of failing TP. What i can do now is to avoid the mistake i made.

So please tell me how i can improve on the points i got below. It is impossible to ask all testers where i got the points.

1) Brake while turning

Can i brake while turning left out of S/Crank course or just b4 going up the slope?

2) Incorrect posture when moving off/stopping

I never got this for my 5.02 and 8.01.

3) Below 6 s for plank

Should i reduce my throttle or step on foot brake harder?

Thanks.

hey bro,

first thing first, glad that you sorted ur thoughts out.:) from the mistakes you mentioned, actually i feel you dun have a major problem with handling bike, just need to fine tune some minor habits.

1) braking is okay if ur speed is too fast. however, do not use front brake. u should use rear brake for any minor adjustments of ur speed while maintaining throttle.

2) i feel this one is very subjective. the posture that is comfortable to you might seem to be wrong to the testers. nevertheless, try to sit upright with both of ur elbows straightened. and when move off, when lifting ur left foot up, there should not be any hesitation as in giving the impression you are trying to drag ur foot. just "up and go".

3) i assume that ur throttle is 1/4 or less. imo, that is okay. what u should do is apply more rear brake and clutch in abit more if u feel it's too fast. if you are not confident of playing with the clutch, just maintain both throttle and clutch but play with rear brake will do. With that said, dun be too focus on this mistake. cos never drop down is alr very good. the timing too fast is better than dropping down.

Hope it helps!:thumb:

im not some pro but its from my personal experience

1) i think its braking when u ride on the road.. they taught us not to brake while turning at the beginning but we forgot :sian: now we adjust our speed even when turning :cheeky:

and of cos u can brake while turning out of courses? must be madness if u cant..

2) maybe u slouch or what? i got it too :sian: try to sit properly lor.. if ur posture a bit awkward they sure find fault :faint:

3) just go slower lor.. its very easy to chalk up 1-2 more sec de

when is ur tp ?

Bro, i just failed my TP this Wed. My next is on 7 Dec.

I dun know if i had slouch. Maybe its when coming out of crank course need to brake so a bit out of position. I really think it be better if TP can indicate exactly why and where they give us points for the various mistakes so we can learn from it ma.

Die also must know where die ma...

Somemore even if i take RC, instructors only got 1, cannot point out all mistakes...... Sianz.

that's good to hear you stepping out of your disappointment so fast. well hopefully what i typed below will be of help to you. :o

1) the reason why we need to brake is becos the higher the speed we are at, the larger the outward push force (aka centrifugal force if i recall correctly) which will then result in wide turning. i doubt you can get a clear circuit for you to try, but if you can, try turning at 40km/h and 45km/h, you will see how wide you will end up in with just a diff of 5km/h. anyway this part isn't all that important. what is important is that, brake/slow down BEFORE turning not WHILE turning. at a higher speed, you will realise how wide you are going and this may cause you to brake harder and indirectly causing you to lock the wheel and cause you to skid.

as for exiting of fig.8 and crank course or going up the slope, it is all important to know if you are going to stop at the stop line, or where you will be positioning your bike at. usually, one should be able to cruise out of the fig.8 and crank course or turning up the slope smoothly. should you really feel that your speed is too high, just tap the footbrake lightly or close the throttle slightly.

2) hmm, seldom hear people getting fault for this. maybe you can ask the instructors for advices. but my guess is that you get knock back while moving off or push forward when you stop?

just saw a few post on top of mine. he got faulted for incorrect posture while moving off or stopping, so i don't think the TPs are faulting him for not sitting upright. but i agree it might be due to him not putting up the leg immediately after moving off... OR before you come to a stop, your leg already down and was like hopping on the road until you come to a halt?

3) step on your foot brake harder will result in your rear wheel from stopping, then you might even drop off the plank. it is possible to get 7s without using the brakes. reducing your throttle is a better alternative. try playing with the biting point also.

I need to rephase my question 1. Can i use footbrake when i go from standstill when turning to control my bike? One example is when turning left from foot of slope.

eh

learn from mistake

but another problem here i think is we always make different random minor mistakes.

like today i take the test, my plank i did super good, but my figure 8 like rubbish.

tomorrow i take the test again, my plank cannot make it.. but my figure 8 i corner like siao :p

today i check blind spot... next time i forget. :sian:

get my point? like no consistency de~ our riding in general actually okay de, but we just make stupid inconsistent mistakes. maybe sometimes u are at the wrong place at the wrong time?

Ha, I agree. What we all need is good luck.

But then again... it just take 1 mistake out there on the road to cause life long misery... So yeah, ride safe bros n sis. Read the news and 1 biker or pillion died... sighs...
