Don't need to read?

got 50questions right?

To ride on the road, You need skills,Stamina, or even luck.

But to be a good rider, you have to change with your environment, and adjust yourself to its rhythm.

Cultivate the confidence to face the different situations. Don't let yourself to be subdued by the environment :thumb:

I didn't touch the books at all. IMO the book is useless when it comes to theory. They come up with questions not mentioned at all inside the books. RTP is the safest way to go.

I am registered 2nd rider on my father's bike but i havent bought insurance i'm abit blur. If no reply then i'll just go by my father's choice lo.

Instructor ALIAS "You all will pass! .....Just don't know when only."

I thought I would fail...plus i forget how the tester in-charge of my group look like...then blur for very long there until all the failures got called out then realised I passed.

To me , 50% cannot find in the book but still easy to pass , it's just a more chim version of the rtp questions .

lv3338...I mentioned that the book is quite 'useless' when it comes to theory. Practical wise the red book is very good on teaching you stuff. :thumb:

Sure there are a lot of road signs in the book...but the test only comes out a selected few...by going for the riding theory practice, you'll know which signs will come out for the test. For the rest of the important road signs...it's good to flip through and see before going on the road.

What I said about the book is purely regarding RTT...I know the book has many infomation, but for RTT itself, it's just too much excess information...RTP gives you a more concentrated information for the test. During my class 3, I also rely more on the theory practice sessions.

Hope I didn't offend anyone by saying RTP > Book...after all, it's just my 2 cents worth. Some people I know did well with just reading the book too...ultimately it depends on the person itself to choose which way they prefer. :)

your term of " practical" and theory is funny..... btw

Technique are taught on practical....any things written in BBC bookis theory....

but in fact...those technique written as theory serve as good guide...

if you talk about sign...then u i believe there is a basic theory book on signs are given...u mixed them all up....

wow....just passed...already can give many comment on bbdc liao....

I think you didn't get what I wanna express clearly, I'm talking about all 3 booklets, the red one is the most useful for practical and both the others not very useful for riding theory test. We're originally talking about theory test, suddenly you talk about pract and the red book...so maybe there's some misunderstandings there.

I don't think talking about dc stuff got anything to do with just passing or not...and just pass is for my bike, car pass quite some time ago already.

Anyway...ain't the people who just gone through all the DC's stuff have the freshest knowledge on what's happening inside the school? :?

What I said is purely my thoughts, not necessary need to follow. To each it's own~

Let's not quarrel over this anymore! lv3338...I apologise if I offended you in any way. :sorry:

Peace everyone.

Even for someone like me who passed 20+ years back my Class 3, now going through the Green Book, I must say there are quite a few differences and additions.

For road worthiness and updates, still no harm in going through.

Once again peace.

If I go down to bike shops to view bikes...can I ask them to help me calculate the price for all the things needed (coe, insurance, road tax, bike) to get the bike on the road?

yes u can. if u getting a new bike, tell them u want to know the otr price which includes all the costs mentioned by you. and remember to ask them to break down the cost for you to see. for coe, most likely they will quote you the latest coe bidding ($1200). so, if the next bidding is lower than 1200, then u pay less, if more than 1200, u top up the difference.

rem ask for any freebies and warranty period.

for 2nd hand bike, the otr price is more or less fixed alr. need to noe the coe and rd tax till how long and of course the conditions of the bike. make them promise to touch up any parts of the bike deemed unsatisfactory by you b4 u pay.

just sharing from what i experienced. :)

Thanks for the info bro johjoh! :)

I'm getting a used bike. Heard new bike for P-platers the insurance also quite ex.

Wanna going down asphoon changi within the next few days to ask for the prices...then slowly consider which to buy. :p

Should I mention to them that I'm new to bike stuff and need them to explain everything more clearly? Will the salesman rack up the prices knowing that I'm a newbie?

i would suggest that you either get a friend to go down with you or get a rough price of the model you like from the buy sell section before you go down.

most of the time, bike shop prices will be slightly higher, but if you can get them to throw in a few extras for you, it will make it more worth it.

ultimately, you have to feel it has to be worth it for you. :)

better to go with someone who's been in the bike world for quite sometime, and prefrable someone who has patronized the shop before.. once shop know you new.. they will have the tendency to carrot chop u.. not all shops, but most shops would be tempted to just chop and hike prices knowing you are new. ;)

Hey bro vashie,

i agree with what bro mobilenerd said, it will be better to get a fren who also rides bike to go with you if u intend to get from shop and know the market rate for ur preferred bike first. Of course u are free to tell them ur a newbie, in fact they will also guess based on ur 2b passed date.

some bikeshops are transparent about the prices whereas some are not. Unless u r satisfied with their answers to ur queries, DO NOT pay them first. once money is transacted, may be hard to get them to listen to you alr. of course there are good bikeshops around.:thumb:

there are a few off-hand things that came to my mind which u might ask them if buying 2nd hand bike:

-coe till when

-rd tax till when

-when next inspection

-if taking loan, whats the interest rate (depending on ur loan period)

-any early settlement fee (in black and white)

-warranty coverage (usually will cover at least a month for engine parts i guess)

-price of the bike

-insurance (for 2nd hand, usually 3rd party unless u want TPFT)

of course ultimately, the bike needs to work! :)
