anyone from sumitomo chem? i went interview ytd.. i did badly lolx.. gonna ord soon so would like to get jobs in JI that have good prospect.. eg: can upgrade and learn stuff.. get cert for this and that ; ) any company recommand? lolx.. pay wise i consider myself freshman so normal for freshman lo... lolx.. I only got Nitec in CPT specialize Pharm but i guess is same as petrol la.. CPT is general.. : D

guys...jus wanna share this. Esp for those who exceeds the speed limit there. :angel:

 

my colleague jus got slapped wit $150 fine + 6 points....caught speeding. 2 tp 'gunned' him....and soon after he got 2 escorts by his side.

 

in fact lately there's more tp sightings in there. so pls be careful.

Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to change it after every 6 months

Hello people, glad to see a lot of bikers working at jurong island.

 

Well, I actually have a question regarding employment and studies. I am extremely interested to go for NUS B.Tech Chemical Engineering course. It is a part-time course for people with diploma and wants to be an engineer after going for this 3.5-4 years course. However, I already have a placement in NTU Environmental Engineering (full-time) in which I really am not sure if I should take it up.

 

However, I am confuse if I should just study solely for the course or get a job in the industry as a technician and study as well. There are a few scenario that I can anticipate.. here it is..

 

Scenario 1: If I take study solely for the course (fastest it would take 3.5 years) and if I graduated with 1st class or 2nd upper, I would be a engineer finding for pretty good paying job.

 

Scenario 2: Same with scenario as #1. But with different classification of the degree - 2nd lower or lower. Still an engineer, but maybe with lower pay.

 

Seenario 3: To study the B.Tech Chem Eng also, but this time working in a company that's proper office hours. Hopefully to get a job that is related to my course of study (Dip. in Chemical Engineering) like in a engineering design firm, lab-based or... I don't know as long as it requires the thinking of a diploma holder of chemical engineering. So that firstly, I'll be able to offset part of my school fees and secondly, I am also accumulating experiences in the petrochemical/oil/gas industry.

 

Scenario 4: Go back and work in my previous intern company (oil/gas company) and after 2 years there, I can apply for education subsidy from the company to study the degree course. Of course, when you are in the company already, results graduated from the degree do not need to be so fantastic, as long as it is of reasonable results with effort put in. Engineer position can be still be apply internally when degree has been completed.

 

But the downside of scenario 4 is.. it is a technician position and has shift work. It will not be an easy task. However, there are people I know of in Shell Seraya and ExxonMobil having such skills upgrading programme and quite a number of technicians are actually doing it now.

 

Scenario 5: Work for 2-3 years as a technician so as to get some experience and proceed on to take up the degree course. Though not a very desirable one to me, but it's still an option

 

Scenario 6: Take up my B.Eng in Environmental Engineering and be a safety officer (one of the more high earning career for this course)

 

This year I am 20 years old, enlisting in a few months time. ORD-ing around September 2011. By then I will be 22 years old.

 

So maybe could anyone advise me on this? I am asking early, so that I could plan my future. Thanks a lot.

I got selected to progress to the next stage of recruitment after the aptitude test.. Kinda surpirse coz i left out alot of question during the test... Anyone noes whats the next stage?????

Hi guys, I have been working in Keppel shipyard for quite a few years. Doin mostly in FPSO conversion and drill ship.

 

Now would like to cross over to oil/gas industry. I am particular interested to work in Giant Oil/Gas companies like Shell, Exxon Mobil...etc.

 

Any lobang for it?

Yes bro as long u holding J.Island pass... you can drive /ride / taxi/ walk cause that is like a checkpoint and island pass is ur passport...

guys anyone got lobang for safety supervisor job? i got oil/petrochemical and building construction safety supervisor cert and ex nsf fireman.

 

Bro Island now mostly want Co-ordinator... trust me..im here like 3 years ready...Go upgrade first better
