If I am not wrong Akaprovic pipes that get from Hong Leong are street legal.. they will have the paper work for you to endose it at V.com during inspection

Nevetheless IMO they are expensive... S$3,000++ for a pair of slip on, while you can get other branded exhaust pipes in the ebay for less than half that price :)

Hi AF

called Hong Leong but told that the Akropovic for MT are not street legal... so i got from japan only the titanium Over Racing exaust but i kept th original mufflers. :) very good!! Ciao and thanks P:thumb:

As far as I know of~ Yamaha agent Hong Leong is not bringing in MT anymore~ was there to service my ride just yesterday, they are now more onto V-max...

Not sure about Loois Motor or Mah thought... :o

Finally got my MT-01.:thumb:

Saw an online ad a few hours ago and immediately went to the shop and dump the $ down. Collecting it tomorow. Phew... my search is finally over..

was very very very close to getting that B-king on sale in the garage sale section, even went to check it out, but... inline four? had enuf man. lucky this one came on sale! haha! God is definitely good!

collecting tomorrow.. and on saturday morning going for a ride to mersing!

Anyone care to join?

Couple of friends and I. 2~6 people max. Nice crowd. no-so-young-anymore sort. Low key. But they ride quick as f#ck though .. out together, back together.. no man/woman/chicken/buffalo left behind type. Safe to say if u ride an MT, ur the sort who walks quietly but carries a big stick. So if u know of any younger squid racer type who rides a screaming supersports, don't invite them :D

so its:

1) Pistol -MT-frickin-01!

2) ROMM- cbr thou

3) LAP - STX

4) Ngl- FZ1

5) naked young chick on a hayabusa & 2 camels in a tiny car!

....last one my imaginary friend la...

Hey all, sorry for the intrusion...

but wondering if anyone knows which shop has MT for sale? obviously used. yes.. I saw the one in garage sales, problem is I already have a bike. Looking to trade it in, thats why looking for shop.

Thanks in advance.

cheers all.:thumb:

yes, got it from excel. its not gun metal. tank and mudguard is green/blue, chassis is silver, exhaust is also silver.

fantastic man... the noise, the vibration, the wind blowing..:thumb: this bike got real presence. stop and blip the throttle already happy.. bbRRAAAAPPP!! can hear each piston individually firing. boom, boom, boom, boom. odd feeling, damn SHIOK!

couldn't really push the bike cos felt the steering wobble a bit. nothing to do with the design, more with wear and tear and maintenance. can feel stable aaround turns, but becos the buzzing so couldnt push. very slight but can feel. during straight line whacking also can feel stable but the buzzing is there. Nobody complain about those so must me inherent to mine. I think maybe my steering bearing need to tighten or change?? or forks need to service? or wheel bearings?? saw the mt forum about using skf bearings instead of the lauyar oem ones. anybody tried those?? ideas? top end is decent for a push rod driven air cooled engine. saw something like 217 at 5k+ rpm before neck cramp! the beat or rythmn is easy. on sports you have to wind it up till 6k~7k then pull till screaming at 14 million gazillion rpm .. haha. who cares! i got my kodo do do do do do....

:thumb:

ps: anyone got aftermarket toys to let go?? preferably concerning making more noise and more noise. also more NOISE! sms me at 97811015. dont be shy.

haha. settled the funky steering. went and did wheel balancing. all ok already. mechanic said it was funky out of balance. something like 35 grams. I figure maybe the tyre rejected?? or install wrong? anyway, using sportec m3. but still, best 15$ ever spent. Now can pull quite stable. :thumb:

also, saw another mt01 on the road on the way back. kaki bukit there. black, fbc 2*5*. look like young guy.. anyone here??

i met him before too, malay guy.

Hey how much did you get your MT for?

hey adrianslacker, got it machine price 13.5k. '06 model. I think i got a pretty damn good deal. its a frickin mt01 man. frickin sledgehammer and oozing with quality. finishing all top notch. if u find one; buy it! u will not regret. last time i rode a z1000 and use to hang out at changi v with a group of guys all riding nakeds. 1 guy riding a slick black MT with BOOMing staintune, told me again and again to get it. i still remember. told me not to waste time on sportsbikes... i didnt listen. i sold the z and got a cbr instead.. So if ur reading this Andrew, u were f*ckin right. :oshould have listened to u long time ago man.

hard to find on market nowadays. I looked for more than a year and couldnt find.... so i guessed: if not in shop, not on road, and nobody selling, means owners must love it too much to sell it off. Now that I got one i realise i was right! its a real keeper.

anyway just keep ur fingers crossed.. i will post if i see any.:thumb:

IMO S$13.5K is a very good deal~ :thumb:

I have been riding my MT every day & night, for work & play for almost 3 years... been riding once to Bangkok & back... been a few times to Malaysia... dropped the MT a few times as well... and still love to ride on the MT... :p

IMO for me is the feel & the sound, and ocaasionally twisting the trottle from 1,000 to 3,500rpm just to feel the Mega Torque acceleration... a couple of times my helmet literally flew off, lucky chin strap still intact so its feels a bit like hanging :faint:

Just take note what the vibration can do for you, yeah I mean the feel is good~ but a bit too much if one is not used to a V-twin~ watch out for parts, in my years I have my both side mirrors broken twice, rear number plate broken twice as well, both rear signal lights, even the rear fan nuts were loosen, all thanks to the Mega Torque vibration :gun:

Greasing the chain is a-pain-in-the-ass and those nasty rusty nuts which I will scream about... but other than these few issues, the MT is all good~ :thumb:

haha...

Yeah.. happened already. on 1 side the numberplate nut got shaken loose. Lucky notice before the whole thing fell of. and yes.. the signals shake very funny. like leaves in the wind. and yes again, the rust on the nuts is stupid of Ymaha. thats the only odd issue. strange how the rest of the bike is so well made but the nuts are crap.

But still...all minor side effect of a big stomping engine bashing away like a jackhammer at the elements.:thumb:

imagine that: sh1t gets shaken off cos the power pulses from the engine are TOO d@mn massive. I mean how frickin cool is that? where else can u find stuff like this? :shades:

a few of bikes come and go, change here, change there, try different..

but this bike, MT01 is really special man:thumb:

hi guys, want to ask some questions related to servicing, but i suspect i already know the answer to most of them:

1. Oil Filter - standard yamaha part? i.e. same as FJR, R1

2. Engine Oil - i have some leftover maxima 10w40 fully syn, any comments if I continue to use this oil? Anyone on semi syn?

3. Servicing - i suppose that any decent bike shop can do an oil change for the MT?

Posted

But still...all minor side effect of a big stomping engine bashing away like a jackhammer at the elements.:thumb:

agreed. when stopped at traffic lights, it does feel like im riding a jackhammer. If you hold on to the handlebars, you can see the whole world shaking up and down!

having said that im still trying to get used to the lack of revs and the lumpy engine at low rpm.

Not sure on the oil filter thought~ I often change it at Yamaha Agent... no waiting time, so I suspect its the same standard Yamaha part, just that not sure... may be next trip to Hong Leong I will check with the mech~

IMO I recommend to use new engine oil... if your engine oil leftover is very old... engine oil do have their 'expire date', just play safe for the 1700cc engine

Yes any decent bike shop can do the servicing~ mine stick with Yamaha Agent, since they have a medical record on my MT, they will recommend me when to change additional parts like air filter, spark plugs or factory recall
