Saw a super looking MT (white tank with white exhaust covers) on Wednesday, the 19th. Joined in on the ECP from Shenton Way.

Nice bike and looks like you got some after market pipes as well.

A friend of mine recommend... my ride get re-sprayed by Alan whom work in Looi's motor. Color scheme choosen by owner~ can just ask him to spray whatever you intended to

Cost me S$480~ a bit of the steep price but I am satisfied with the paint work~

I ride MT almost everyday~ especially preference on ECP~ :)

Hi just to check the above thread..MT-01 comes with 400cc???

Hi,

(Un)Fortunately the MT-01 does not come in a 400cc version

There are really only 2 models from the MT range, the MT-01 (a 1670cc v-twin) and the MT-03 (a 660cc thumper). There are variations to the MT-01 range as the model went thru changes from 2005 till now.

HL does not bring in the MT-03.

Hope that answers your question. Any particular reason you looking for a 400 version?

yup. problem mannn....

I went HL yesterday and the guy tells me they've stopped bringing in the MT-01... :( .. that's it. the end. all over.

other places in the world they get the red and white SP model with the ohlins shocks... and singapore gets the nothing zero nought model. Looks like have to parallel import if really interested.o_O

Can't really blame Yamaha Dealer for not bringing in the MT series anymore, the MT sales is just not as good as the other Yamaha bikes~ wonder how many MT-01 are now in Singapore, was once told that there were 16 around... so assume its true, that would roughly make out 4 bikes sold per year...? not a big number I guess

SP would cost more, but those Ohlins looks tasty

finally saw my 1st mt-01 on the road today

its a orange unit, think it was a malay rider?

along lornie rd heading towards thomson at abt 545pm.

nice bike!

except maybe for the rear lights. can anything be done about it?

any after mkt lights/kit?

Posted

Hi Joshdway, from what I know, there is no Yamaha Genuine Accessories on rear light... nevertheless there is always option for aftermarket lighting design that suit your taste~ Have seen others MTs in the net with alternate rear light setting

hi AF,

i have not come down to research on what's available yet.

i suppose when a unit needs to go to a new home for an affordable price, thats when the research begins!!

btw, i am sure the insurance and rd tax on the MTs must be quite abit huh....

any numbers to share?

not sure if they are classified as 'risky' bikes. but naked bikes are usually deemed in a not so good view? hence bumming up the ins?

Posted

Hi Joshdway~ I am now 34yrs old & my insurance are around S$2,000, road tax S$666 per year, as year goes by the price will drop

If you are below 31yrs old, the insurance cost would be higher.. not long ago I had a friend whom also interested in MT-01, he was 23yrs old & insurance coy quoted him S$3,000++

IMO its expensive, did asked my agent why is this so, her response was because its above 1.6 liter range & not many on the road

hi AF,

thanks for your reply

the rd tax's still ok cuz its a 1.6l after all

but the insurance?

wow! at 2k, that's higher than the ducati hypermotard! and as much as my car with 50% NCD

guess the insurers dont take very well to the image that the mit-01 potrays?

wad a pity

well, since there's no pre-loved mt-01 in the mkt

i wont have to think abt it for now

heh

If I am not wrong Akaprovic pipes that get from Hong Leong are street legal.. they will have the paper work for you to endose it at V.com during inspection

Nevetheless IMO they are expensive... S$3,000++ for a pair of slip on, while you can get other branded exhaust pipes in the ebay for less than half that price :)
