When at straight after corner, i crank the throttle fully, my front wheel will lift and loss traction, when it land, i will not have the feel of "Tank slapping".. bcos of steering damper is there to help out my controlling..:thumb:

Base on this I think I should install one liao. I have this sensation before, not tank slaping but when the front wheel got lifted up I actually can't feel my front wheel (traction, steering positon) untill the front wheel touch the ground and then small twich on my bike and go straight. Quite scary.:sian:

So I got it twice at Pg, that is when I exit turn 1 at Pg.:faint:

As Rockford had mentioned, the function of the damper is similar to the front /rear suspension. It is design to absorb the shock to enchance a comfort ride whereas the damper helps to absorb lateral shock. The major diff is that a damper does not have a rebound setting, it only goes with compression setting.

Damper, a device mounted and pivot between the steering cone and the suspension fork, help to resist sudden change in steering angle. Compression setting varies on applications. A hard compression is good when travelling at high speed, it enhances stability, for eg pot holes, small stones, uneven rd, etc. But when it comes to street riding, a mid compression setting will be more disireable, as manoverbility is impt when a taxi jam brake infront of ya, as u need to take evasive actions, but the hard compression slows down the effects....deadly.

It is a good to have device provided it serve your application. Damper without adjustable compression is a great waste of money. My 2cts. :cheeky:

Note;

Steering Damper is a device, like your suspension place horizontally...

Suspension got compression and rebound... upward & downward force..

steering damper only provide aid to your left right handling...

Don't think that it will add to your safety factor...

Damper rate can be set from soft to hard...

At high speed, the fluid inside, liquid or gas, will heat up from the left right vibration/motion.. causing it to tighen up...

So if u got one install on your bike, do not set the rate too hard... slow speed ok.. at high speed.. it might jammed up the device.. and u will FLY!

Some OEM dampers cannot adjust leh . I think the one on the 04r1 cannot adjust . :giddy:

for testing...:thumb:

of cos.. u need to think now what riding habit u want.. e.g. high speed with high RPM.. spore use mostly at normal road or Exp way... u take pillion... etc..

For me.. now i using the setting for track.. and when riding in spore, everywhere also jumping around...:goodluck:

of course i can set back for spore used.. but most of my friends discourage...

so now i wrote it down the setting & keep it with me..:thumb:

For turn 1 and turn 5.. mostly...

When yr front lift up.. there is no traction.. yr handle bar is free.. yr right hand crank at the throttle.. exerting more strength, yr left hand did not exert the same amount of strength.. then the feeling like" left, right, left, right..." then when yr front tyre touch the ground, of cos it will twich...:help: :help: :help:

Ya some damper that comes with stocks bike, usually does not come with adjustable compression. Like my other bike comes with a fixed compression type. Hear those special edition bike was mounted with the same damper they uses in races.

anyone knows how much is pirelli dragon evo  tyres?

any reviews on it? coz want to change to contisports attack but no stock...

mech recommend me this tyre dunno gd anot...

long time never come here to see see.

300-320 at lab/hkl, 120/180 sized pair.

dragon evo is probably the cheapest sporty street tyres for cl2 bikes. cheap does not mean lousy though.

i have used 2 pairs of that already.

another thing is someone mentioned about mtr01/02 good up to 210km/h or something. That is the other H rated model for 2a/2b bikes also confusingly known as evo by motodiams.

Taken from the net:

There's a well of information on the Net, and some of it is even good! Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I know the exact words the abbreviations stand for, but I can tell you what they mean (learned it working for a Honda motorcycle dealer on Oahu). But, please don't take my word for it either, go down to your local Honda dealer & check it out. There is a data/VIN plate either on the frame at the side of the bike or on the frame neck/steering head area. It'll say "Model" & have the number. Ok, so here goes:

There are exceptions that I don't know because of model changes since I've been "in the business", but they basically follow the following formula:

First is the Alpha Digits which identify the engine configuration & type, such as CB, GL, VF, VT etc. If the bike's engine is built to race specs, it gets a further designator "R". CB= Inline-four engine

VF= V-four engine

VT=V-twin engine

GL= Opposed Cylinder Engine

Second is the engine size (self explainatory).

Next digit is the one which identifies the type/body style of bike. Most sportbikes are an "F", most cruiser bikes are a "C"

Last, if the model has a sub-model it'll have further alpha digits after. For example the Magna was a VF750C. They also offered some with a mini-fairing around the headlight & two-toned paint. This one was a VF750CDC. On our beloved CBR's, the last digit also tells us which generation bike it is. The original (Hurricane) was the CBR600F, the next generation is the CBR600F2, followed (of course) by the F3/F4 and F4I (Injected). I have no idea what the "RR" actually denotes...anybody?

Hopefully you will all see the pattern here. Here's some examples of different models by model name & engine type followed by the Model Designator:

Nighthawk 750 (inline 4)= CB750

CBR (inline 4)= We all know these!

599/919 (inline 4)=I haven't looked yet to see what model designator they got.

Interceptor (V-4)=VFR800I (Remember the "old" VFR750F?)

Magna (V-4)=VF750C

Shadow 600 (V-twin)=VT600C

Shadow 750's (V-twin)=VT750C (with additional designators for different 750cc

models)

Shadow 1100 (V-twin)=VT1100C or CDC (many different models have been made

in current years & they all ended with a

different designator number, but they all

started with "VF1100C"

Goldwings (opposed cylinder)=GL1800?

Honda is the only manufacturer I have a clue about since they're the only ones I've worked for. Hope this helps someone, somewhere understand what all those digits/numbers mean

*Now then i noe that F4i belongs to the Hurricane family... :sweat:
