  1. Stoner was just superb. Too bad Capirossi crashed towards the end, was hoping that he can squeezed into the top 3.... Oh well, Go Ducati~~~
  2. The advantage of motocross riding.
  3. Ducati offered Rossi a ride but the Doctor went to Yamaha instead. Underpowered was the reason he did not join Ducati I think... Anyway, a rider's success is a combination of skills, bike setup/development/feedback and tyres and a fair bit of luck. Ducati had it's fair amount of trouble with Bridgestones over the past few years but got better and better till today. Looks like it'll be interesting now that the series head for Europe.
  4. The fact that he wasn't able to outbrake and overtake Stoner towards the later stage of the race shows that Stoner is pushing himself in the corners and inadvertently, Rossi to the edge. Unfortunately, Rossi was the one that made the mistake first and kudos to Rossi for able to rectify by clinching 2nd position. I agree that is extraordinary by itself but what is more extraordinary is that Stoner, at 21 years old, has already won 3 races so far, was able to fend off Rossi's advances as the race progressed and causing Rossi to make a wild if not desparate overtaking attempt. Anyway, point I wanna make is that Stoner isn't a slow riding idiot winning solely on the merits of the Ducati 800cc Monster just by opening the throttle on the straight. We have seen Rossi catching up over faster machines, overtaking them and keeping the lead for good. This year, he has found more than a match in Stoner who just keeps getting better and better. Capirossi who had taken wins last year beating Rossi hasn't been able to re-produce that form on a similiar machine as Stoner's. This should speak merit of Stoner's determination and excellent skill/form this year. Though I'm a Capirossi fan, Stoner has found a new fan in me cause he pushes equally as hard if not more so than Capirossi, The Lion-Hearted. Anyway, by far, a very interesting season in a long time. All the better for us viewers at home. Sorry for the propanganda talk. Go Ducati Go!!!!!!

Hahaha.... For once, I finally have to chance to chio ppl to watch MotoGP over kopi and can look forward to consistent podium finishes from Ducati~
  6. Dun think Stoner is a one hit wonder... Given his capability and a competitive bike, he has shown that he has what it takes to win. In the initial first few laps, Rossi was faster in the turns but Stoner overtook in the straights. He knows that Rossi will have to brake hard and brake late and he used it to his advantage. If you noticed in the later mid-stage and towards the end, Rossi never had a chance to overtake and when he did, he went in too hot.... Kudos to Stoner. Plus Ducati Power.... Ducati + Bridgestone tyre for sale below.

I dun think any bike Ducati design nor any bike design will ever surpass the ever-green classic iconic 916/996/998. Then again, the 1098 has set the benchmark for all manufacturer Superbike.... When''s the next kopi outing?

The 749/999 have a revised valve angle and cylinder head I think. Plus new layout of the wirings. I think it just boils down to labour cost+no. of hours involved. Strange though, I thought the new design and layout of the newer bikes was supposed to help reduce labour/make maintainance easier. That's wat I read from Ducati website. Don't haev a 749/999 so I dunno.
  15. What torque advantage?

Think Ducati is pushing for a 1200cc V-twin for the SBK cos the current 999r engines for the SBK I read has already evolved to a stage where it is costly to tune and maintain. Why they never immediately come out with the road going 1200 immediately I dunno... I suspect requires new machines/moulds/cast equipment.... So maybe wait till the 1098 evolution is complete, then perhaps new equipment to mass produce the 1200 engines? Dunno how long it'll take though. Just a wild speculation. Anyway, horsepower/torque/power delivery, really depends on riders' preference. That's why Colin Edwards never really gotten off in Yamaha? Bikes are primarily tuned for Rossi's preference and riding style.

http://www.hypercycles.org/forums/showthread.php?t=10230 There's a side pic of the bike for u to take a close look. 160 hp, 90.4 lbs/ft torque, 173 kg for the base 1098 model. Wonder how much will the 1098s and 1098r make.... And look at the article... Ducati's version of Yamaha's exhaust power valve!!! Anyway, I think this is really a great leap forward for Ducati. With some mods, I think the base 1098 shouldn't have any problem hitting 200bhp?!!?

Wow... that's gonna kill the resale value of the 999's. Anyway, my take. The 1098 looks generally nice from most angle, 999 certain angles, the 916 series from all angles. I dun think it's possible to come out with even a bike that can out-do what the 916 series have done. It took a Honda cub to best the Ducati 916 in the world's top ten greatest motorcycle. Specwise, the 1098 is the bike that all Ducatitits have been waiting. Lightweight, more horsies... U can't complain that my bike is heavier now. So when kopi again.....

Think we have already heard of a few cases of owners getting such rides and next thing you know, gearbox disintergrate. Could be pure luck. Anyway, best if you ask the seller the maintainaince history. Ducati owners dun ride the bike slow and easy irregardless of what they say.
