I was reading the article about fatality of bike.

I saw a quote for this Dr. saying that riders especially youth are thinking of bike more than a transport. instead of a show -off. taking reference to the lighting they do to their bike.

How can a under-carriage light/colourful lighting affect one's bike and for LTA/TP to list it as illegal modifications?

IMHO,

Bikes are known to be small in size, difficult to see. Having such expressive lights allow other people to take notice of riders on the wheels. Able to differentiate us from the normal headlights of other vehicle.

Installation of such lights do not increase the performance of the bike, so how does it link to be more dangerous?

IMHO,

Not all is of show-off, if having a different lighting can differentiate us. THIS IS OF SAFETY.

Open for discussion. =)

yes,,it does not increase any to the performance..but, wat LTA see is tat the lights might distract other road users..imagine u r driving a car & keep looking at the light coming frm another bike..& ur eyes r not looking at the road..

tat's wat they think..but i still put lights..seldom on it..unless i'm out for a gathering or msia  safety purposes

In Hongkong, the streets are filled with lighted signboards, some of which are even blinking, won't it be more of a distraction? consider this. why its allow-ed.

well... the lights on the bikes keep my eyes on them & off the road...

but the HID lights that alot of damned cars have are keeping my eyes totally shut!

i agree on this.

In Singapore, all the streets are well-lit. why on earth do they need HID lights?

loll.. some people may say that its cuz dun wanna distract other drivers off the road and also keep the rider focus on the road rather than on the lights.. den again, maybe these same people should also consider banning pretty girls from riding racers or scramblers... ...

no... they should make them fully clothed when riding & not in some skimpy outfit

it is for the safety of all road users & for the ladies themselves as well

haha.. well, no matter what, if they got the figure, it'll still be a road hazard.. maybe they should let all these pretty riders carry a kind of identity.. haha so we'll try to avoid causing any damage lolll...

but seriously speaking, if common sense was to prevail, lights shld be allowed, only not to bright like high beams, that may cause temp blindness.. else shld be ok.. but nonetheless can call them up and check.

think about it in TP's view. u allow such lights. soon u get clowns with xmas tree lights all over himself and the bike. or even another dude who put police lights or worse got one install the damn powerful spotlight with a batman insignia to call batman come to save his bike from the JB robbers. how? once u have this rule of no extra lights other than stock, u save all this trouble from such clowns.

law is like that one. Its never logical, it is a preventive measure. prevents idiots from doing weird things and gives the men in blue something to charge u with so they can find an excuse to throw u into jail if u try to be a clown

Well said,

The Law take into consideration of everyone, inclusive of silly ones..therefore Law is nvr a democracy imho. lolxx

If the law allowed lighting on bikes, everyone will have different colours or patterns, some will change to blue lights or red lights intead of the normal ones which may skip the attention of fellow road users.

but what I am worried is the attitude that youngster have on the roads. Many have the invincible attitude which I once has when I was young which is the critical issue.

for me, i m one that can't stand decorative lights. It is not only a pain in the arse but pain in my eyes.

especially HID headlights. They are very blinding. I got blinded a few times when some cars and bikes high beam all the way.

And imagine all vehicles on the roads having their own colourful lightings, wont it look like chingay?? chingay parade at all nights in all singapore roads??

another worry is that the lights might take the focus of other drivers and riders attention/concentration, resulting in high accident rate. keeping the road with no decorative lights and HID is the way to go.

It doesn't make one safer with those colourful lights.

It can be hazardous.

for me...putting a decorative light such as neon light is okie..even for myself i put neon light..but HID...totally a NO! its too bright n cause blindness...was blind a few time by cars...i gif way to dem..n den start chase after dem frm bhind n play high beam on dem..dat wud teach dem a lesson..

these are legally allowed under the law. they are called additional braking lights. Maybe u can make a giant red spotlight to act as ur brake light, then can argue with TP u are safe rider. haha they confirm suck thumb. :faint:

hmm invincible issue can be solved easily. All driving centres shd have one lesson just for skidding and banging exercise. New students must wear protective gear and purposely skid and roll along the road and then later bang a giant bean bag head on and fly over the handlebar. Confirm pain and it will drive the msg across. Just dun understand why the learning centres dun ever take me seriously knn

For me, i like things to be kept this way.

BUT ban those super bright headlights pls! When those damned cars are behind me, i cant look at my mirrors. Then only leave me with a few choices;

1. Slow down and let the ^#@* overtake.(my choice)

2. Speed away.(i humji)

3. turn the mirror away so that the light doesnt shine into my eyes.(dangerous)

If the car is coming from the opposite direction, then really LPPL liao lor.

LOL, i think this solution can also address the the issue of increasing number of vehicles on our roads, since there will be a decreasing number of riders.

HA HA!!! You guys are ridiculous but funny, that would bring down the accident rate severely and maybe sometime in the future the school of driving centre will have to publish on the news to encourage people to take 2B.

Maybe next time, they have a promo that gives free arai helmet to those who enrol and yr end special, unpeak hr thrs out if u sign up before CNY.. hahahah

if that solution can decrease the number of riders then in future maybe no more 3 classes for bikes

who knows they might even have promo of getting class 3 free class 2... ji tao chut big cow liao!

maybe... jux maybe... they'll throw in bike cover + 2 helmets + rack & box too

Pain is for sure but who is responsible if the student breaks a leg or dies from trauma to the head? The bean bag?

Worse still, if the student survives after crashing and develops a misconception that accidents are no big deal then how? They think they stronger than container truck then jialat liao lor.
