Renumeration / Salary Negotiation

Anyone has experience or encounter this before ????

 

Lets say if the company decides to offer you the job.

They inform you that this will be the package they are offering.

 

Anyone felt that they deserved more and negotiated for a better package

 

And on how many occasions was it successful that the company increased the offer ???

I was once offered $X (which did not meet my expectations) when i was job hunting.

 

I told the HR exec that "If that's the best you can offer me, my answer is an immediate NO. There is no need for me to consider".

 

She immediately upped by another $100, which still did not meet my expectations. Said it was the most she could offer me, else she needs to go back to her boss. I asked her to call me back only if they had something better to offer.

 

I could afford to play hardball coz I wasn't hardup for a job at that point in time. I also knew I impressed the interviewer enough to make me his first choice candidate (not being arrogant, but he brought me around to see his equipment & operations after the interview & introduced his staff to me). Considering the circumstances, I tried to milk it for what it was worth.

 

They didn't call me back, but I secured a much better offer at another company 3 weeks later.

It depends if you're in the running for an entry level job or a higher ranking one.

 

At the higher levels, there's more room for negotiation as they have a bigger range and also more track record to judge you on.

Yo guys, Look at this link from hardware zone, The topic is quite an interesting read. I think these group of people are fedup with their low pay & long working hours, I think this is the real situation out in the design industry, but then i guess its happening in other trades too. Pay kena suppress

It depends on the prospects and increment/promotion scales. If in a long run it's good, benefits good, bonus good, can la.

 

My company also offer me fix package, i cannot neg as i'm fresh, but overall its very good lor.

I negotiate for higher pay by doing 2 jobs,example i asking for 5k, but most firms budget too low, so i offer to do initial 3 months at what they can afford, after i have streamline their system, pay me 2.5k, i work half a day only permanent. Then i look for another job also pay me 2.5k for half a day lor. Half the time save, more secure with two jobs that is cheaper than any on the market, no worries man. I be the last to get retrench. But this is possible if you can really do it in half the time, have to show it.

I dun think u should call it "bargaining"...more like "negotiations"

 

Sell urself, know ur worth to ur company and use it to ur leverage.

 

A company will not want to lose a good worker for an extra 5-10% of his/her pay.

 

But if ur a lousy worker...then better not try ur luck..

 

I am now currently negotiating for better pay since economy is good now...
