ADVICE NEEDED: Rusty Exhaust Pipe before Muffler

Dear All

I am currently a very very green carrot (haha where got green carrot one?) in motorcycles! Currently taking 2B, expecting to pass TP by the end of Nov or early Dec!

Anyway, I want to seek advice from you bro/sis out there who is riding Honda Wave. As you can see in the picture, the exhaust pipe before the muffler (please correct me if I am wrong with the parts) looks like it is rusty. If I were to get this bike, what do I need to do? For example, change the pipe, wash&treat the pipe or what?

What is the consequences of not changing the pipe in the long run?

Thanks in advance :D

That area, I think its called the exhaust header, is susceptible to rust because it's always hot. It's normal. As long as the rust is not severe, it is easily fixed by sanding off the rust and respraying with high temp paint. If its really severe, there might be a hole developing in your exhaust which would cause you to fail your inspection.

Thanks bro for your reply! I did some further checks on the pictures of other second hand bikes and found the exhaust header (as you say it) also quite darkened or slightly rusty. Can I just check with you whether there is rust inside or just the exterior like how we see it.
