"A", sub rider of fz16. "B", fz16 owner, under hired purchase. "A" had bought an insurance for 1 year but has been using it for 7 months. "A" has to go sail soon. They both decided to change sub rider to "C". I want to enquire about the insurance. Premium paid was 500+, age 23 with 1yr+ 2b license. "C" age 23, 2b license Aug2015.

Is there any changing of names fee? If yes, estimation around how much?

Insurance.

-To top up from the premium paid since there is about 5 months left

-just switch name of sub rider; or

-pay full for a new premium

Call up the shop under which the bike was purchased since it's still on hire purchase. Only they will be able to advise you as to the exact charges and the queries you have. Typically, if a bike is under hire purchase, the finance company will dictate the insurance company to be used and charge whatever administrative fees they require.

Thanks bro for your answer. But the current subrider called the shop regarding this and all the person can say is that there is an additional fee of something but still don't know how much will it cost.. he asked again how much is the fee and all the person answered was need to check how much the fee.. seems like they are trying to hide something because if it's a fee to be charged to change subrider, they can immediately give a quote of amount.. and regarding insurance, the shop also say on the day itself can talk.. how?

But usually, how it works for the insurance?

There's always a fee to change subrider. How much depends on which company, so no fixed answer. Whether the premium will require top up, also depends on other factors, exact amount, depends on insurance company, again. The ppl at the shop will have to refer to the insurance underwriters. The shop people won't know offhand. They have to check. It's likely that they're lazy to do double-work. E.g. they check for you now. Then later, or next week, you decide to do it, premiums might be different already due to change in duration (-1 or -2weeks, since they time you first enquired) so they won't waste their time. When you confirm want to get it done, then they'll check and do it on the spot. Depends on how you talk to the shop people and what kind of people they are. For all that, no one here will be able to give you an exact answer as each scenario/situation/combination of factors are different. Best is, check with the shop. If they don't wish to entertain you, then go down and flip table.

There will be a charge to change the named subrider. There will also likely be an additional premium topup required as the new subrider is p-plate. The top-up is unknown till the insurance underwriter calculates at the point of enquiry. The quotes are usually valid for X-number of days. For any further information, really, check with the shop. They're just being lazy, not hiding anything.

Thanks for your advice bro. But the important point is regarding insurance.. most likely is top up from the premium paid and not pay full insurance right? Since got 5mths left.
