Thinking of attaching a tachometer to my steed 400; I have no idea what has to be done except buying the tachometer!!

Is it doable? is it hard to do or i can do it myself? what exactly the technical details for assembly if it is doable?

Thanks in advance.

finding a tacho for cruisers is bit hard in spore. there r 2 types, mechanical cable or electrical. get the electrical one, easier to install. i have not been successful in finding one in spore, but seen several mechanal types though. you can probably get it from usa via mail order. read the instructions and it should be diy easy.

I managed to attach one to my Shadow but it's a Taiwanese digital tachometer that a friend got it from Future Scootering. Yeah, bracket installation is the main concern. Once you've gone past, the rest is more or less simple.

A sample of mine

Edited to say: The tachometer is around S$200+

In faint yellow, 1 is where my tachometer wire is connected to the ignition coil and spark plug wire and 2 is my ignition coil.

I was looking for this thread to show Jonborah how I attached the tachometer and I realised this question. Before you get the fuel indicator, you need the ball and float INSIDE the fuel tank. Either you cut open the tank and install the ball and float and connect the wire to the fuel indicator OR get a new tank with the ball and float installed and all you need to do is connect the wire to the fuel indicator, such as KOSO, Dakota Digital, etc.....

I don't wish to sound mean, but that's what required for a fuel indicator in the beginning. I won't go for the 1st one 'cos your tank integrity will be compromised.

Ive seen diy see through fuel "indicators" on those cruiser mags.

Requires two holes on the tank mid-top and bottom, two nipples and a see through hose.

I wonder how they look like.... Sounds like something meant for scramblers. I don't know why.
