Why do I always see this message at the bottom of the page when I surf SBF forums?

This message will stay at the bottom all the time and will not go away. :sian: Why? anything wrong with my comp?

It doesn't make any difference whether a motorcyclist has the right-of-way or not, the rider is the one most likely to get hurt.

You're using IE or FF?

My educated guess would be that a 3rd party "toolbar" or IE add-on has been installed and that it was loading some sort of advert behind-the-scenes, just that you can't see it.

You able to give us a screen capture of it? :)

A quick check on this company revealed that they actively use adverts (and a third-party advertising company) to publicise their services. I'm guessing these possibilities:

1. FF: You installed a toolbar, that connects to Voice 2 Page for advertising purposes.

2. Some software has been installed that comes bundled with the abovementioned ad-ware.

Besides that symptom, ReBornBikeR, does your internet surfing get affected by it? Or does your computer exhibit any ad-ware symptoms? (eg. sudden popup adverts), or is it this:

only when surfing SBF?

I don't think I install any "toolbar" that connects to Voice2page.

My Internet surfing does not get affected at all, no slowing down of speed, I am using Starhub broadband, my paid AVG anti virus software will always block any popup adverts automatically.

This "Transferring data from aa.voice2page.com" just will not goes away from the bottom of my screen, that's all.

I was just wondering what was that and check the page that I am surfing was already loaded and no datas is "waiting" to be transfer.

As I am typing this reply, this stupid line is still at the bottom of my page all the time and I have not click to another page at all. Nothing happens or being transfer.

Lastly, this line of text only came on when I am surfing SBF but not every thread that I click.

I do not see this line when I am at all other internet site.

Based on your experiences listed, your computer should be well protected and that an anti-adware/spyware program on your computer is actively blocking Voice2Page.

Try closing off *all* browser windows, including software that connects to the internet. Then, clean out the Temporary Internet Files and Cookies -- making sure that no browser windows are open on your desktop while you do so.

Tip: visit IE's options directly by going Control Panel > Internet Options. That's where you will have the option to clean out the abovementioned things. For Firefox, you can use some sort of 3rd party internet history erasing tool to do so, without opening FF.

Why is this happening, you ask? I'm not an expert in advertising-style webdesign but based on my educated guesses, maybe Voice2Page and maybe its advertising arm used crafty methods to record every visitor's visit to SBF, or any websites that displays their advert, and if it fails to record (because the vistor installed anti-spyware/popup), maybe it was also crafted to be persistent, attempting to connect again and again even if it fails. Hence the persistent status bar text that you are seeing only when surfing SBF.

Whereas I feel that this crafty method of recording visitor's visits is of little harm, it's a nuisance to most people and encourages some advert related nuisances on one's PC. Pretty web technical stuff here.

To Andy, any mods of SBF, as well as to whom it may concern the most:

I'm not trying to push forth the fact that SBF has used or allowed Voice2Page to be one of their advertisers on any portion or the whole of SBF. I do know that through advertising channels, 3rd party solicitors can sometimes channel their way through somehow, ending up in places such as the advert boxes in SBF.

I've never used any third party tool/search bars for eg. yahoo, google etc. Best not to use them. Visit your "Manage Add-ons" and disable whichever has a "publisher" which is alien to you or does not serve a purpose to your net surfing dude..
