What makes you think that the japanese do not have this problem? My phantom used to vibrate alot and had clutch and gear slipping problems. Then again, maybe it was my riding pattern or plain suay. Oh, maybe I was equally suay on my Wave S too, oops.. and my Wave R too... Japanese, arguably Thailand though.

But I must admit the gear problems on the pulsar was far too significant though, and it always act up on situations where you really need to pull away from the traffic quick... Argh... But still, lovely mileage and fuel tank.

yup agree with you.. Pulsar is jus a simple bike.. not much of a performance bike.. the advantages of it is big tank, low mileage. those into speed, shall go for other bikes. Daelim Roadwin maybe.

Hoho. I ride a company YBR for one, and my own UG-3 for another. Deliver fast food lar, you should know which companies i work for.

Pickup, UG-3 definite winner. I have yet to pull off the UG-3 max speed yet... 110kph and the RPM over-rev light flashes. Dont want to damage the bike. :/ YBR can hit 110 no problem, and this is with a unloaded giant box behind, that can squeeze 300-400 dollars worth of fried chicken. Squeeze the said chicken inside the giant box, and speed dropped to 80-90. still okay lar.

I dont think i can make a fair comparison for the FC as i tend to pull throttle for the YBR alot. my normal riding is 50-60 kph on normal roads and pulling to the max on expressways, one full tank(to the brim, 13L) can last about 200-300km i think. this is with shell UL92.

SNIP!

-the bike looks like a little brader of honda super 4 (similarities here and there)

it does. but dont go about having any ideas about going down to scrapyards recycling super4 parts, mind you.

SNIP!

-stock front suspension damn soft (can ask mechanic add fork oil to harden)

im gonna have to agree. but nothing serious. i can afford to put it off till my next servicing.

minimum downpayment $800, bike price or machine price 4.6K-4.9k depends on how u talk to the sales person. den theres insurance u have to ask yrself, den there is road tax. it all adds up to abt 6K range plus minus.

Err, bro, if you still P-Plate dont go around quoting 800 for a brand new. Bajaj Distributor in singapore quoted 1.5k downpayment. I laughed in his face... and went to another shop.

ybr is 125cc.

bajaj UG-3 is 180cc, rite??

it's an unfair comparsion.

e.g. u r comparing 1000cc car to a 1600cc car.

1600cc car definitely win, just like wat u say bajaj ug-3 is the winner.

compare apple to apple.

ybr125 compare it to cg125, en125, roadwin125, zongshen125 or any other 4-strokes single piston engine bikes.

bajaj 180 if u should compare it to phantom or any other 4-strokes 200cc bikes, bajaj is the loser.

roadwin is not a fast bike too, max 110kph.

well tuned rw like mine is very forgiving n pure leisure to ride.

it also vibrate at 4~5k n >8k rpm.

if u compare horsepower, rw 125cc engine has only 11hp.

bajaj 180cc with 16hp more/less.

adding more notes:

by looking at your fc, u guys r running very lean.

my rw stock setting was lean too but after retune, it is much better ride now.

current fc for my rw125 is 30km/l @ 80~90kph.

maybe this will help u understand:

based on the table given, which mechanic of a workshop can do the tuning to achieve 14.7 figure? I've been wondering until now.

iam not sure if dis is relevent(spelling??) but i went to service my carb.. change the rubber diaphragm(iam sure the spelling correct) now my fuel consumption better plus my bike "feels" smoother(just my feeling)..

I guess it will be near-impossible to achieve 14.7. Experienced mechs should be able to bring the figure close, but only multiple dyno tests will be able to achieve that.

Bro Goofy and Monoworld,

have you guys come to a conclusion about the remaining air filter? It's still in my storage rotting haha

bro Lancified,

I am letting go of the K&N air-filter. Maybe it was spur of the moment thing that I wanted to buy. I'm so sorry to cause the held up coz i was too busy with my final sem of my study and works. really paiseh.

Bro Goofy,

Do you want to buy the K&N Filter?

But there are air-fuel ratio meters/gauges (such as the one shown in the pic below) available in the market rite? I wonder whether such items are sold here. Or whether there are mechs who use them when doing tuning.

Bro,

I only see such meters used during dyno jetting. If the price of such a gadget is not too high

Talking about sharing, I've told bro roadrunner before. Those with K&N installed, soon we will need to recharge our filters. After 20000KM of usage we should recharge it once to maintain it's effectiveness. A recharge kit cost ~$35? and is capable to doing 30++ times of recharges.

Since I am the 1st rider to get the K&N, I'll inform everyone once the time comes.

Having gear problem is enuff to ruin ur day's ride... last time i use to ride phantom thats why i know, lots of clutch slippage, gear can't engage properly, alot of false neutral, clutch cable snapped 2 times in a row etc and etc... wah kaozzzz, give up on 'made in thailand bike'. Quickly get a cl2a and grab a S4, heng mine is the last batch of 'made in japan & assembled in japan'. The next batches of S4 dunno assembled from where 1, though the parts are from japan.

true. but they are both sub 200cc bikes anyway. But if anyone earnestly asks between the two bikes, which one is "better", id say the pulsar

Pickup: My UG3 can zip to 100kph no problem, under ten seconds, and i feel that it still has power left to spare. Makes me wonder why it's drivetrain is only 5 speed. The YBR takes a while to hit 100kph, and even then you can feel the power ebbing away. You can feel that the YBR is reaching its limits, and this is with a 4 speed drivetrain. Unfair comparison, perhaps, looking at the difference in displacement. Nevertheless, Winner: Pulsar.

Max Speed: Kudos to Yamaha. 125cc bike hitting 115kph on flat terrain. Heres where Bajaj needs to take a pointer, 180cc bike whose over-rev indicator lights up at 110kph on flat terrain? The UG3 should have come stock with a 6 speed drivetrain. I have yet to push my UG3 to its limits... so possible draw?

Fuel Consumption: On my pulsar, one full tank of rough riding (running in complete liao. :D) lasted me 560km. That equates to about 38km per liter. This is without using the reserve. One full tank of rough riding on the YBR lasted me 285km. That equates to 24km per liter.. This is also without using the reserve. Allow me to stress on HARD RIDING. Your fuel consumption is linked to your riding style. Winner, Pulsar.

These are the points important to a dispatcher like me. If i had to chose between the two, id chose the Pulsar. It all boils down to whats important to each rider. For me, its the fuel consumption. Motorbikes don't run on water... at least not yet. :)

I get what you are saying... but theres no way in hell i will use a Honda Phantom for dispatch work, be it the 180cc version or the 200cc version. :p
