You could try Sim Lim Square...the back alley. I think got a few shops doing repair and selling 2nd hand notebooks but dunno how much...any NB agent will charge over $1k for the repair. Anyway good luck on ur search.

Tat is why normally LCD crack are considered BER (Beyond Economic Repair).

Partially why I didn't mind paying extra $300 to get accidental physical damage coverage in my extended warranty from Courts when I purchased my Acer laptop recently.

Would recommend Dell's CompleteGuard warranty scheme also.

Roughly cheapest can get it how much to repair it?Cos now cracked it till can't see anything...

I'd second all the peeps that have responded here. Maybe average around $1k. Or 700 if your notebook is really old and if they can get spare parts for it.

:btw: they will most probably have to replace the whole screen (minus the surrounding frame and salvageable display wires, of course)

Which brand is it??Might beable to provide you with a rough gauge of the LCD replacement + labour charges(If out of labour coverage period)..

But the older the model, the more costly the LCD is gonna be..

Funny to see this topic resurface.

As I mentioned above, I was really glad I paid extra $300 to get extended physical damage warranty for my laptop.

Cracked the screen and casing recently from an accident.

Replaced everything for free.

Phew...

TS, ask yourself how much you bought your lappie. And how much is the repair price. And how long you have been using it. And the general condition of it.

If the repair price is more than 15% of your cost price, go and buy a new one seriously.

Plug in an external monitor and use it as a (slow) desktop PC.

Wildcard > Get a Panasonic Toughbook if you're going to be rough with your laptop. :D

Nah.

Price too high for something I use only at home for Net-surfing and emails.

For outdoor work use, my company issued me a HP EliteBook 6930p.

Not bad. Aluminium casing makes it a reasonably tough notebook on its own accord.

Not to mention is powerful enough for me to play Fallout3 with minimal lag.
