Guess Chris and Jan haven't got round to it yet, or it's a secret. I did get an e mail from one of the girls who worked there ( Jennifer ), telling groups of recipients that the bar would re-open, but I've deleted her address.

Hey guys, I was wondering if changing out the coolant of my street triple to something else (maybe engine ice or something) would help to reduce the crazy heat I am feeling everytime I ride? Anyone changed their coolant before?

Posted

Hi FF

I recently changed the coolant of my bike as it had been in there for about 15 months. The fan was coming on regularly whilst waiting at traffic lights.

The murky stuff that came out was not a nice sight when I checked, cracking a hose off. So I discconnected a couple of hoses and drained the the rad, engine and header tank of it.

I used a coolant (antifreeze) mix in 500ml bottles (premixed) from a car accessory shop, bled the system and now the fan doesn't come on at the lights, unless I've been riding like a tw*t in traffic.

The motor certainly runs a lot cooler now.

The anti-freeze has a higher boiling point than water, plus the internals won't oxidise.

Thanx alot for your input. Just went to get some opinion from my mech. Will be changing the coolant and decatting the exhaust. This will supposedly reduce the temp a bit.

I forgot to mention.

When I had the hoses off I flushed the radiator, tank and engine internals out. There was a surprising amount of dark water in there.

Was rather disappointed to find condensation and quite a bit of water inside my speedie tail light... took it down to Mah's to show Kenny - should have replacement light shortly. Any of you guys had similar issues? Incidentally bike's only 7 months old so i had no intention of drilling the light...

....meanwhile I'm sat here with man-flu feeling sorry for myself.....

Hey guys, anyone here use rizoma grips? I changed the grips to rizoma and I have a problem. For the left hand grip, after installing the rizoma, there is a gap between the grip and the left side controls (i.e signal, horn etc). I was told that I can't shift the control cuz it is drilled into the handlebar. Is that true? That gap is really an eye sore!

Yo bro, I don't remember being extra feminine when I met you. I even brought along my own female pillion then. How come you have an impression that I am a female? :(

I'm still riding the greenie. The high COE, difficulty in selling my current bike, and dilema in choosing the next bike is the reason why I'm still with greenie.

TBH I got quite tired of riding recently .. think I really need a new bike to re-ignite the flame I used to have. Actually I think it's just my job .. it's making me uninterested in everything .. zzZZZZzzZZzz

You ride safe and enjoy the triple.

Hey man the only way to find out is to loosen the controls and see for yourself. Shouldn't be difficult lah ..

The only condensation I get is in my head. Must be the beer.

hi guys im thinking of buying a street triple . can anyone tell me the difference in servicing vs a jap bike and mileage to service and what is generally replaced plus cost and where to go to do it. also the fc of a street triple . hope to join u guys soon!

Posted

Hey-up Kok.

I get about 13-14 kilos per litre.

This is with all the start and stopping, plus I usually ride like a loony anyway ( everyday ).

The bike is so addictive to ride, constantly proving that it's far more competent on the road than I will ever be.

You won't be disappointed.

Parts are comparable with Japanese bikes but not so many parts around. Mah Pte are the main dealer in Singapore. I try to keep service intervals to about 6K, which costs a couple to few hundred $ depending on parts and what I ask the top mechanic at Mah to look at for me. Just had a new battery.

Not had many problems in the year and a half ( 12000 km )that I,ve had the bike. But there has been a couple of issues.

Generally, the bike is awesome. Great handling and a very willing motor. Looks cool also. I own a Graphite Grey R model. Almost as sexy as my wife!

what crazytown said is right.. I too get 13 km/l.. Servicing almost same as jap bike.. 4 bottles of engine oil (not everything tho).. Oil filter you can use knn 204 oil filter if you don't wanna use the triumph one.. Where to do is is either at the dealer mah motors, or for me i get meng tong at sporting motors.. According to the manual, service intervals are 10,000km which is wow.. Good luck bro!
