the dip-stick is still the traditional way of checking oil levels...

i just read a mag which just was talking about this dip-stick.

why risk dropping ur bike when checking through the glass alone...

Out of curiosity, I just went to check on my bike again, I've done over 1000km on the 5W40 Maxum 4Ultra, just after 1 min after the engine stopped, the oil level was at the 2/5 mark.

 

My riding style is usually 3000rpm to 6000rpm in SG, hitting redline in JB, some serious deceleration as well, looks like no problem for me.

 

No oil stains at the exhaust tip, just the usual dotted soot stains.

 

Just changed to 10W40 Maxima EO...will be monitoring the oil level for next 1000km and see how it goes.

Dude, looks like you got Maxum Extra & not Ultra for your Blade. I don't know about RR8, but it felt like crap on the previous years' Blade. I wanted to flush them out immediately. Few of the "old" Bladers also tried it out and did not like it.

guys...use thick oil just patch the problem not fix the problem....i think u better fix the problem first, every oil should put into ur rr8 with no problem if the bike is normal....

I'll check on that. I'm using mineral oil still...within 5000km.Not sure about the viscousity level of the oil tho...just change only... for the 1st servicing.....

I had to change my clutch plate as well on CBR600 model :deal: After that, just left to my mech's recommendations after the new plate is in

 

But what people are saying on other CBR forums is that it has got something to do with the piston ring. Some changed that, and it worked for them but there's no guarantee.

I wonder if anyone is doing that locally....

 

If they need to change piston ring, then i think Honda must be making s h i t engine these days. I do not think thats the case, although they say worn out piston ring causes the the engine oil to burn up. It's quite highly impossible since its a new model. Furthermore there'd be more 'clues' if the piston ring is indeed faulty, maybe like white smoke emit, etc etc

Didn't notice smoke but there's definitely black splattered oil stains at the end of the exhaust.

 

I use only up to 5th gear on SG roads...well my revs doesn't exceed 6000rpm there. There are instances where I'll go on a speed frenzy but not more than 8000rpm. And only 2 sessions in PG 3rd gear 12000rpm max...high decelerations here too .

 

That's the range I go to on different occasions.

 

Yes...I pull hard on my throttle...like I was riding my Fazer... I know its wrong. LOL.

 

....reading the manual now.

well, so far maxima extra on my blade was doing well.... smooth acceleration

2006-2008(s4 ft5701b)

2008-current(cbr 1000 05 Fz4**8c)

Well...that depends on whats your definition of run in...by honda's books?

 

I kept within 5000rpm only for the 1st 1000km...then go track liao...Honda's book says 500km.

Saw some threads on guys ordering the Leo Vince GP Pro slip on for RR08.

 

Anyone using the Leo Vince GP Pro end can yet?

 

Care to share some feedback?...Dyno Maps? Sound? Power Increment? Looks?

 

I am deciding between GPPro and the Akra Slip on.:?

 

If the price is really as mentioned $6XX only and power increment is close to the AKra then it's a no brainer choice for me...

Using it now. No dyno but it solved the flat zone ard 3k~5krpm. Sound wise, slightly more bassy. Haven't take out silencer yet. I got it for more than $6XX.

yeah...actually stocks good enough.

 

I just wanna take off some weight from the bike...and also make the bike louder so that cars knows I'm coming.

Please do note that the sound is not loud. Maybe same as stock plus addtional bass. To me the sound is just nice.

Do you have any idea if the we mod the flapper valve in the stock pipe?

I heard the sound n power was great. But not sure if there is negative effects... hmmm...

Will not have any negative effect. Anyway, it a very simple process and is reversable easily.

I prefer to have silencer installed. To have a peace of mind riding in Singapore. And it also a hassle to remove and install back the silencer as well. Makes no big different to me. Maybe a 1 or 2 sec more to reach my desire speed? :cheeky:
