so which brand of EO is recommended for cbr1000?

 

Personally I like Maximum Ultra, the thinner viscosity one, can last for 5000km. Motul also nice, but after 3000km, feels rough already, so does most engine oils.

My first time posting here, in need of some advices from expert and experience rider here.

Recently bought a 04' CBR 1000RR from Bike Production at the machine price of 10.5k wif the mileage of 30,000km , my first class 2 bike in white color.

This morning went down to autobay at kaki bukit for servicing with a fren who is a regular with the workshop.

 

Workshop owner himself an experience mechanic, Alan Koh, was a knowledgeable and willing to share friendly fellow.Under his reconmendation i changed 2 pair of EBC double H racing brake pad which cost $170 in total.

I have no question in regard to his workmanship, but would like to find out from fellow blader is the price reasonable ?

Actually plan to have full servicing done by him but he is too busy with others bike hence have to wait for few more days before my turn, so only got time to change the brake pad, the way i see it, he is more like an expert in BMW bikes.

 

Another problem with my 2nd hand blade, while slowing down the machine even at 60 or 70km/hr, the 'bok' sound came out, it happen quite often.

Its like exhaust back fire, unburn fuel kind of thing, my thought of fuel injection bike shouldn't have this problem with ECM controled air-fuel ration

properly.

Alan explain it is normal and 80% of bike have it........

 

Appreciate if you guys can shed some light on this : )

are u using a stock or after market pipe w/wo PC...??

if u can provide this information, it will help alot indetermining ur concerns....

however in general, using an aftermarket pipe... it will be quite normal..

also depending wic gear n rpm u decelerate...

not sure if stock pipe will encounter this,

its been along time since i use stock pipes..

 

i feel personally for just 2 pairs of brake pads for the front at $170, its kinda steep.

I use "braking" brand brake pads, for the front, but they dont cost as much as urs..

Normal road sintered pads is ard the range of $100-120 (4 pcs / 2 calipers) depend on brands. like wat c70 mention his is for racing yes its abt dat price. there are even more higher end pads costing above $200 a pair (just for 1 front caliper)

Do take note racing pads needs to reach a certain temperature in order to be fully optimised in its stopping power.

dont want to waste money buying a 1 piece suit for track use then a jacket for normal touring..

Hi dean _pedrosa, i'm using stock pipe without PC. Usually i decelerate in 3rd or 4th gear without clucth in approaching traffic light and then 'bok' sound came out.

However, after mechanic tighten up the accelerator cable at the right hand lever this morning ( didn't noticed myself, walao) the sound didn't come out again, not sure it was due to this, will continue monitoring : )

For the sintered pad, mechanic claim that it will last longer with more grip, hence it actually save $ using it than the normal one, so only time will tell...

I got my EBC

 

double H brake pads for $130 and my mech gave mi free normal brake pad for

 

my rear brake.... Maybe like what u said, yr pads are for race use so tend to

 

be more expensive but I seriously doubt that...... Most mechs will not

 

recommend race pads for street use.. Like what some of the bros said, race

 

pads need to reach a certain temp before the effect cmes in and cold

 

race pads are just a diaster on the roads..... So pls check carefully..... It's

some after market jeans have, i think certain brand they sell pants (touring pants) with knee pads not slider (not too sure whether it helps) if not just use the rollar blade guard will do.

Hi, I believe the windscreen u and yr fren selling is from ebay..... The costs inclusive of shipping is only USD$25.99 which is around SGD$40... Coincidentally, the location of the seller is also from Hong Kong...... Noted that you have posted the same thing in CBR 600 thread........

 

For $85, i rather top up $30 more and get a reputable brand in SG...... I believe this thread is for fellow CBR 1000 RR riders to help each other in terms of technical issues and share opinions abt our common liking for the same model of bike and not to have some shady deals......Even if we wan to MO certain stuff for our bikes, it should be on a non-profit basis.....
