Guys, alot of time, I get request to try saving the battery when they are abt to Kaput - so it is like - dun change engine oil for the 1st 30,000km then change to a good quality oil also will not help right ?? Battery maintenance must start early even when the battery is new & especially when u dun ride your bike often.. & when u finally do start yr bike once a week or month the battery power is only at half capacity - u r actually over loading the battery.

Some of us who take over 2nd hand bikes have to take over 2nd hand battery. I'm using my original Shadow battery for 4 years now thanks to regular re-cond from it's 3rd year onwards. Too bad the max voltage is now below 13V. Have to change soon.

Yeap, original battery does hv an average lifespan of 4-5years if they are specs rightly. Yr battery should be veri expensive, but i heard tt battery prices are lower now due to sharp drop in lead prices...... so do ask around ... especially in MY.... but stick to a good brand..... cheers

Too late. I bought a Furukawa FT12A-BS for $110 from KNT on Monday. It's 6.6mm shorter than my stock battery but I've no complains yet 'cos, it's still new. Was told that it's used for Hayabusa, so I hope that the CCA is similar with my stock battery.

I think yr new battery is below specs since it is 6.6mm shorter, anyway i think think FURUKAWA is a good brand...... i got the proper weather proof cover for the charger now .................

Hi Richard, I got a question to ask you. Suppose my bike battery is 12V 11 amps and I decided to use another one 12V 15 amps....is it ok for the bike?

What are the side effects? Will the bike undercharge the battery? Will the battery be too 'strong' for the bike circuit system?

Indeed, it's below specs but it's ok. As long as it's not taller it's fine 'cos I can't close the seat if the battery is too tall.

What is a weather proof cover for the charger? I didn't know that Ctek had them.

I just change my battery recently. But when i rev the volt doesn't increase that much. The volt reading only changes from 12.3v - 12.5v.

Someone told me, for the battery to recharge it should be 13.5 when throttle.

Is my battery recharging?

I was also told by other person that if my battery is not recharging the volt reading will be lower when rev.

Any idea what's wrong?

A man only needs so much money, the rest is just showing off

You will need to check your bike charging system, btw is your bike electrics on when yr bike is running, try switching off the lights then see if the voltage increase ornot .........

Actually, it is a charging system problem - the rectifier maybe the cause, Most bikers call the bike charging system ( alternator & dynamo ) a rectifier.

Pls check besides the rectifier - other main components to check are rotor, stator & regulator. Rotor on bikes maybe the stationery type ( magnet ) , stator is common type a group of copper coil & regulator is a IC chip mostly these days.
