Not a fan of saddlebags. Better for cruiser, not for tourer. Just doesn't look right. But thanks for the info. I'm willing to spend the cash to get the quality. 180 is min for mid range top box, but i want top and two side, and good quality, so realize will run much more.

 

Agree with Shorty, top box alone is not enough. Need side boxes. So i'm ok to budget for all three, obviously 180 is just for top box.

My suggestion is get used. Will fit your budget.

 

Trekker is nice. Will bust your budget. But well worth it.

 

Can try Mah. Dont faint when you hear the price.

yes you can get the trekker series box locally at mah...

trekker series is the higher end of the givi brand...

trekker series boxes are sold as individual box...

if nv rmb wrong each box is $300+ for the 33L one...

the 46L should be in the range of $400+ - $500 each...

exclude mod to the rack to fit pulsar and exclude the cost of rack...

Go motoworld. They have samples on display. Cheaper options would be Oxford.

mind sharing what is your maximum budget and how fast you want to fix up all your boxes?

with this in mind maybe we can better advise you on better options...

If you just want to fit small stuff like raincoat and coupons and tools, $70 can get a pair of small side boxes from Hock Thiam Heng at First East Centre.can use padlock.

Ouch, so 1000+. As you predicted before. Seems excessive, but if Mah is only dealer in town they have monopoly on price. No competition. But order in that size will be expensive shipping,and 7% import tax. So not much choice.

 

Trying to convince myself I can buy for long term, an investment. Take them off my 200NS someday when I move up to a bigger bike. But boxes that nice are target for thieves, and would be hard to swallow someone taking your 1000 dollar hard earned money off the back of your bike when you're not looking. Especially since plan on many weekend trips to malaysia, thailand....

you can try ordering through LAB...

LAB gets their stock from givi malaysia which will be slightly cheaper but price will be about the same range when you go into the higher range of the different brands...

sad to say there is little or no racks that can fit direct on to any pulsar models...

hence need to mod most racks to fit...

 

btw if you say saddlebags are not for tourers, you are very wrong...

our experience tourer gaban toured with saddlebags on his pulsar 180...

I just don't like the look of saddlebags. Much more suited to a Harley, cruiser type. Sure they'd be functional, but would ruin the look of the NS200 in my opinion.

 

Will check with LAB and Mah to see what they can have and prices. Need to see the mid and top range myself to judge how they will look on the bike.

 

Was looking on Amazon, and can get some deals on the Givi Trekker series. Will keep looking. David from UM said he can mod the rack for most cases. So will get his ok before making any decisions.

Everyone has different needs and taste. We have a few pulsarians here with saddlebags and a few with boxes.

No one bike looks the same.

 

We even have a Trax box user with saddlebags. So everyone is different.

My only advise is that if you are going to tour with them just make sure they are secure. Oren uses a netting to prevent theft.

I tink most ppl get the wrong idea abt saddle bags. I also told my colleague i wanna put bag, then he say "wahlau...ugly sia. Don la" then when i show him an example pic, he changed his mind. Most will think its the kind of bag that is on harleys. The soft leather kind.

 

For me, the saddle bags look nicer on our bike than boxes. (no offence to those who put sideboxes.) anyway...that white bike is nice! N do i see an aftermarket pipe there?? No plate looks close to mine.

That's not a saddlebag. That's a hard case. Saddlebag is soft leather.

I must say it would be interesting to see cruiser-style saddlebags on a Pulsar.

 

We have a Pulsarian here with E21 panniers mounted at the most bizzare location.

Is there any generic bracket that can be mounted on this bike? UM will only get their brackets in end January. If not, is it possible to mount the saddle bags mentioned above without brackets?

its strapped under your rear seat...

removable when not in use...
