Heya Guys,

Nice to meet ya all. I'm currently waiting for my 200NS to come next week. Feeling excited and yet concerned with road safety for bike riders.

How do you guys deal with road safety, especially SG roads that's not so bike friendly?

To other 200NS bikers, how's the bike so far? Any reviews?

congrats...

come for our weekly makan sessions and join us for rides...

we are glad to share our experiences and during the rides to practice safe riding...

Thanks! this is the list of problems one of the forum guys listed.

1. Carbuerator problem

2. high oil pressure problem

3. oil seal leakage

4. Gear shifting problem

5. Engine over heating problem

6. Radiator not functioning properly

7. Rear gear unusual sound

8. bad milaege

the guy also state that the guys at the service centre dont recommend the 200ns. I believe the forum is from india.

The problems listed by the forumers kinda kills my interest in buying the 200ns. So i wanna hear from local 200ns riders if they have any problems regarding the 200ns. (:

hi mind posting the link to the post?

maybe let us read through then we may have a better answer to your queries...

to be frank, there is no perfect bike in the world...

all bikes have pros and cons...

bajaj bikes also...

there are also many good reviews of the 200ns from india...

Thanks, are these reported recently or from a few months back ?

1 to 3 are a bit vague si it's hard to adress.

4. are you talking here about false neutrals ?

5. I have not read any heating issues so far but I am not yet up to date with the most recent feedback, still making my way though the first 2 months of ownsership in India. However, I'm in touch with 2 riders in India owning a 200NS and none of them has engine heating problems, how big was the scope of the issue ? Was the coolant liquid supplied sufficiently ?

6. Meaning it doesn't kick in ? Needed to be changed ?

7. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by rear gear ? You mean rear Sprocket ?

8. What I have read is that it's definitely not the 56km/L Bajaj announced - but that was for 40-45km/h rides. Guys are doing cruising speeds of 100km/h and registering a solid 35 to 40km/L which I think is excellent mileage for that speed..what figures did you read about ?

If this is all from ONE user, then obviously it's not really worth much. I remember reading about the 200 Dtsi everyone in SG used to say (and still says) "bike got lots of problems, very hard to maintain".

Then I met this group right here, and read this thread and realized there's A LOT of false rumors and distorted info. In the end, my 3 year old P200 has never failed me, and I took it for touring in places no one thought it would survive.

Also keep in mind that as for any customer feedback, only the bad is often reported: for x% owners who have issues with their bikes, much much more owners never say anything because everything is good for them.

There is no such thing as a problem free bike. If we stay in the 2B category, the Duke200 and the FZ16 also have their own issues for example, which doesn't mean you shouldn't buy one: on the contrary.

Just look at the sales figures for the NS in India and you'll see what I mean: if the bike was so bad, you think people will spend money on it when they have at their disposal many other choices ?

Last thing to keep in mind: each bike will have issues the rider can't do much about. But most of the issues often appear as a consequence of the rider's care for his bike, and his riding style. I have read on indian forums riders redlining their NS for a hobby, taking it to the 11krpm limit for the fun. Others, never changed the oil filter after the first 500km, which probably meant that most of the running in metal particules ended up back into the engine instead of being flushed out as they should. Another thing to note is that a lot of remote bikeshops didn't get to train their mechanics on the NS. So they sort of learned as they went, and I've read crazy stuff about mechs giving terrible advices to the riders about their NS.

We don't know yet the bike in SG so it's hard to say much. The first riders here only just clocked 500-700km on their NS.

But as far as I'm concerned, what I noticed from the first feedback of indian riders is that Bajaj definitely delivered quite a bit of improvements compared to earlier models. As a Pulsar rider myself, I have experienced hands on the true power of Bajaj bikes, and have many times contradicted with real experience the rumors and say-so of people.

My advice is don't rush, read more feedbacks from users, and connect with NS riders here in Singapore (check our FB group and page we have a few there). Come to our meetups, you'll meet them there. And keep asking questions, it makes you feel a bit confused but it's the best way to clear your doubts and learn more :thumb:

Rear 130/70 - 17, 61 P, Tubeless

What does these numbers mean?and if i were to find a replacement on Unique's thread, do i look for the same figures? 100/80 & 130/70?

im getting my bike next monday and im quite concerned about the fishtailing.

Let's take the rear tyre as an example:

130 is the width in millimetres

70 is the height vs width ratio: it's 70% of the width, so here the tyre is 91cm high

17: rim size in inches

61: this is the tyre load index, means it's the maximum weight the tyre can carry at its maximum pressure. 61 corresponds to 257 kg

P: this is the tyre speed rating. It's the maximum speed you can ride safely with that tyre. P is for 150km/h

Tubeless: means your tyre is empty inside, there is only air, no tube inside.

And yes do look for the same height/width/diameter(rim size) figures when you change your tyres. SI (speed rating) and Load index will always be good enough for the NS so don't worry about those. Must be tubeless.

Thanks a lot for your clear explanation!

Hey guys just wondering. How often do you guys change your brake fluid? And do you change it yourselves or at UM?

Been watching some bike self-maintenance videos on brake fluid change and it seems quite tedious having to bleed the system to get all the air out while you change your brake fluid.

Thanks guys!

Thanks guys!

for me i get it changed every 10k...

brake fluid is corrosive, it you get it on your plastic parts, it will become dull...

if you did not bleed your system properly, it will cause spongy brakes or even brake caliper jam...

so i suggest if you not very sure of how to do it, you can bring it to any bike shop(no need to go back UM for this basic service) to do the change and bleeding...

I think before we get too carried away on the misnomers of the 200NS, I think it may be good to list our end users hands on in Singapore. I know some riders may be shy and may not know where our how to start, so perhaps I may list some guides to help you start.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nickname or Name:

Previous Ride: (Brand and model)

Current Ride: Bajaj 200NS

Color:

Date of bike collection:

Current Kms clocked as of today:

Initial reasons why you chose 200NS before you bought: eg. Quality/FC/Power/External reviews/ Styling etc

First impressions on first day you collected bike: (state what impressed you and/or what didn't impress you) Handling compared to previous ride or any issues with quality of finishing etc

Short summary of any issues you have faced since first day: (if none, just state Nil)

Overall impression: please state if you would recommend this bike to your best friend or not. If they had bigger engines in the future, would you upgrade your bike.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The purpose of this is not to find faults but to allow local riders and users to share our impressions on this machine. It will also show that no two riders are the same. Each rider's contribution here has no absolute bearing on this machine's true potential. The reason I say this is because ultimately as a rider, you must understand your machine. It's what takes you places, be it locally or regionally as what some of our group members have done. It would be great if it puts a silly grin on your face whenever you mount the saddle.

Also no two bikes are alike as no two riders are alike. Each cares for their bike differently, ride under different conditions, weather and even attitude.

So I hope that we can form up some feedback to allow would-be 200NS owners to come to an informed decision. Heck, I know some current Pulsarians are already itching to get the 200NS ourselves.

Take all overseas reports or any reports with a pinch of salt as we do not know these riders personally and how they care for their machine.

Just my input on the whole matter.

The problems listed by the forumers kinda kills my interest in buying the 200ns. So i wanna hear from local 200ns riders if they have any problems regarding the 200ns. (:

Hey, what you posted bothered me so I went to look for answers. And I found the page you got this list of issues from. (basically this is only ONE person's sum up of what he think are the defaults recorded, and he doesn;t even sum them up correctly so it's quite distorted..)

So to clear your doubts and help you decide and hopefully encourage you in your quest for info, here's a bit more light :

1. Carbuerator problem

It wasn't a carburetor problem. Apparently that one bike had something stuck in the airbox or the lines, preventing proper air/fuel mixture. The shop said it was done during shipping but that doesn't make sense. So my take is the shop opened the bike, probably didn't put something back properly or whatever. The second the bike was returned to them they "found the issue". From all I've read so far, it is clear that lots of bikes were used as TD (test drives) and abused beyond measure and many bikes were opened to train the mechanics and then sold as is to new customers.

Don't worry you won't have this false "carburetor" issue here: the bikeshop will test the bike and let it run long enough to make sure the fuel is properly combusted.

Not a bike default, it's a human error. (mechanic)

2. high oil pressure problem

3. oil seal leakage

These two were actually the same: either the EO filter was not changed at the first servicing, or the cap wasn't put back in place properly when changing it.

Not a bike default, it's a human error. (mechanic)

4. Gear shifting problem

When you read all the feedback in detail, you realise that all the guys who post these issues are completely new to riding or have used a very different bike before and the same for many years. Many riders come in to remind them they have to press the clutch lever fully to change gear (!!), and to tell them that the NS is not like any other indian bike: its gearbox was made to be smoother, and more reactive. if you shift gears with no tact and just go at it harshly, you're not doing the gearbox any good.

So it is clear from the feedback of the riders that this is not a bike issue, it's a rider's issue. Or a mechanic issue (one guy completely trashed bajaj and the NS saying it was lousy, next day he went to the bikeshop they told him it's their fault for loosening the clutch cable too much or whatnot...they fixed it, he was again in love with his NS. No comment..)

Nothing to do with the bike, everything to do with the rider.

5. Engine over heating problem

6. Radiator not functioning properly

Same category of "issue" : again, this is not a bike problem but a rider/mechanic problem. Forgetting to put coolant in the bike (!!), not topping up, not changing it. Riders often came back saying they took the bike to the shop, the shop put coolant liquid in the bike and it was solved. Please remember that this is the first liquid cooled bike of its category in India - ever. So both riders and mechanics have to get used to that extra thing to check and maintain I guess..

Nothing to do with the bike, everything to do with the rider.

7. Rear gear unusual sound

That is actually a squeaky sound coming from the disc brake and brake pads. Due to the pads being wet (moonsoon season + roads flooded), and/or dusty. Simply fixed with proper maintenance and wash of the bike regularly.

Nothing to do with the bike, everything to do with the rider.

8. bad milaege

People are riding the bike below 60km/h in mad traffic for hours and they are surprised. They clearly do not get always how mileage and FC work. Riders who used the bike on highways, or mixed roads, with mixed speeds allowing the bike to fully deliver its potential, have reported mileage figures they're very happy with.

Nothing to do with the bike, everything to do with the rider.

Hope all this helps clarify things in your mind !

Other things which the would be reviewer could add to their impression of the 200NS would be handling of bike during peak and non peak traffic, brakes, vibrations, pickup, and whether the engine or gear box is smooth.

Your daily commute if it is 50% expressway 50% small roads or 100% non expressway would help a lot.
