bro mj, thks for uploading those pics. looks like the boxes wont obstruct. actually wanna put bags, but seems like bags normally ppl don use for daily usage. noticed that the bags hv a top strap over the seat, n if rain sure wet. pillion wont b able to sit.

so...looks like hv to settle for boxes.

alamak .. if without strap hmm the seats also wet ley if rains .. kakakaka

just for ur info .. my strap covered is the same material as my seats cover the anti slip seats type one .. hahahaha

Oh....i tot the straps r fabric. Thats y if rain i believe it will absorb the rain. If its the material of the seat, then it is much better. Is it u change the material or it comes like that?

haha those must be the tiniest boxes in the world

@shorty, no worries, there's plenty of space and the pillion foot peg is rather close to the front. And the pillion will be coomfortable in his/her posture. Even more so if there is a top box to lean on :D

Reminds of a question for the 200NS tall riders:

1. Do you often find yourselves riding with the toes on the foot peg for a more comfortable posture ? I do that on the P200, it's impossible to ride long distances foot flat on the peg toes over the brake like they teach at school..

2. On the P200, I sometimes touch the pillion's feet if I do that. And forget about when I pillion my bro in law who's my height or taller: He has to put his feet like a duck to leave enough space for me to be comfortable.

Is it the same on the NS ?

I personally find it quite uncomfortable to rest my foot on the brake pedal while riding. Wonder if the pedal can be adjusted. Visually, it seems that the pedal can be pulled out by loosening a bolt and slotted back at a lower angle. But I'm afraid I would break it and do not dare to try it :(

Current Ride: Bajaj Pulsar 200NS

Color: Red

Date of bike collection: 8 Jan 13

Current Kms clocked as of today: 90km

Initial reasons why you chose 200NS before you bought: Killer looks. struck my heart the first time i saw it online

First impressions on first day you collected bike: quite nervous as its my first bike. collected it on a weekday during peak hour. had the most difficult time navigating through the traffic. at first the vibration was quite overwhelming, cause the last bike i rode was the Cb125E in BBDC. but after the first ride, i didnt really feel the vibrations, probably gotten used to it already. haha

Daily commute : 60% road 40% expressway.

On a seperate note, i had my first incident today.

so apparently the choke is located under the seat, slightly above the gear lever. i had to open it to allow the fuel increase the flow of the fuel entering the engine. but being so close to the hose that connects the tank to engine, i accidentally fiddled with the hose and it came lose during my ride. being a fresh rider, i was shocked to see fuel leaking. i stopped safely at the road side and parked my wife on her side stand, i reached in with my petrol-soaked gloves and tried to connect the hose back. after a few tries, i managed to stop the leakage and made a call to david, he was really helpful and detailed in his explanation and with his help i successfully secure the hose.

so my point here is that the choke and the hose feels similar, especially with gloves on. lesson learnt, dont anyhow touch your bike's parts.

this is how i feel and should anyone feel otherwise then this would be irrelevant.

Thanks for the review. Quick question...

1. why were you fiddling with the choke?

2. was the bike already running?

3. did you have difficulty in getting the bike started that's why you needed to pull the choke?

4. Or was the bike moving and you decided to pull the choke?

if the bike was on the move, there is no need to pull the choke.

@O'Ren: for me I tuck my right foot under the brake lever. if i had to leave it flat foot above the brake lever, my heel will be further back than the foot pegs. any other way will be very uncomfortable.

Ok, there's no way I'll ride the right foot under the brake lever.. the drum brakes already take forever to kick in, if I have to get my foot fom under the brake lever I think I'll fly off the bike before that haha..:cheeky:

I personally find it quite uncomfortable to rest my foot on the brake pedal while riding. Wonder if the pedal can be adjusted. Visually, it seems that the pedal can be pulled out by loosening a bolt and slotted back at a lower angle. But I'm afraid I would break it and do not dare to try it :(

Yeah don't touch it. Let's see if Indian riders have done it first.. :D

What the hell ! o_Oo_O

I'm keen to hear more from you after you answer Mobilenerd.. The P200 fuel hose has a sort of ring bracket on the extremity that ties the line to the tank tap. I can't remember now if the other extremity is the same. will check later. But this is insane.. if one can unplug the fuel line when fiddling in the area this is extreme.. that stuff should require you to pull quite hard to be able to dislodge it :faint:

Hey guys!

just collect my 180 today ... are there any racing rearset or extension for the bike ?

Not comfy for my long leg...

How tall are you ? There's quite a few tall riders in the group and so far even the P180 seems to fit.

If you're a giant, maybe try to ride toes on the foot peg instead of full feet ? I don;t know about any foot peg assembly that works for the Pulsars but maybe someone else here remembers something ?

1) well i stoppd at mobil to top up my CCard. so i tried to start it, didnt start. so i remembered the choke could help the engine start abit. but when i was trying to find the choke and being unfamiliar with the feel and texture of the hose and choke (gloves on, lesson learnt). i accidentally tugged the wrong one.

2) ya it was running at about 50 until it died. managed to safely make my way to the side.

3) i think pretty much covered in 1)

4) i would't dare shift my arms from the bar to reach the choke LOL

Thanks for the warm welcome! looking forward to the makan session! wont be able to make it for the SBF convoy though.

i didnt dislodge it on the first try. it happened a few times when i tried to find the choke LOL, ill never touch that thing again. and if i had to, w-i-t-h-o-u-t g-l-o-v-e-s :cheeky:

then again, this might be just me being inexperience and unfamiliar with parts of a bike. so its just subjected to my personal experience.

i remembered some one asking about labour cost during the x number of services. x = 3.

Gaban's input on the Indo crossing question:

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/01/08/8evatyvy.jpg

It seems that it may once have been possible, almost like an urban legend that someone who knows someone used to make the crossing. But nowadays I guess the current Indo government doesn't allow for whatever reason.

I was more hoping for a quick easy hired crossing from Singapore, but a decent alternative would be a couple hour ride to Melaka and make the ferry crossing to Dumai. I've just been Googling though and can only find old stories from a few years back talking about a pending roll on roll off ferry service, which hasn't seemed to happen.

Just got the NS back from UM, had the 500km oil and filter change done. Plus picked up some BMW grips and had those put on. Much more 'sticky' feeling and easier to grip, feels like it absorbs the vibrations a bit better. The original grips felt cheap and slippery. These you won't slip on the gas, especially when wearing gloves.

Turned out the rack came in early, as it was supposed to be in last week of Jan. Got it put on, and looks not too bad. It's only a top box rack, as expected. They said they could mod it for side boxes, but I'll take a look around at possible top and side boxes and decide on what to put on this week.

All in all, now that the oil and filter is changed, and the engine is broken in, I'm now no longer scared to ride it a bit harder and the bike is a lot of fun. Only need to get those tires changed, cause riding into my car park tonight in the rain had a serious back tire slide out and almost lost it. Those eurogrip tires are deadly in the rain.

Posted

@scarlet-spider, how tall are you ? You'll get used to it.. Another thing that can help with the riding posture is a handlebar riser. Will do wonders for your back if you take long rides..

@mjbs64 nice vid, the NS was long gone by the time everyone shifted to 3rd haha..

@Bodhi Bum, Planning to ride to Melaka some time soon. Waiting for the sun to make a more permanent apparence. If so, I'll make sure to go to the port/ferry spot and ask around. See what I can dig up.

Something else I want to try is ride to mersing, leave the bike there, and go to Tioman (mostly for diving but just chilling on the beach works too.). Heard a few guys did it before, with Japanese bikes so probably more prone to be stolen than our Pulsars. Heard any experiences on your end?

If some of you guys are keen, we could organise a ride and WE on Tioman.. just gotta go recce see who there could keep our bikes if we're a group.

Anyone here ever replaced their fuel pipes ? it's indicated in the manual as to be replaced every year.

What are the fuel pipes? the rubber fuel line or the super hard metallic thin pipes that are at the front of the engine ?

And what are the oil cooler pipes ? The engine mounting silent blocks ?

I have!! it's $1.. it's still the grey rubber hose with metal clips at both ends..

I'm not sure abut the other 2 items.. the old fuel pipe will harden after long run.. I'm not sure it there is any baffling though..

but do note with your current set up tyre sizes from stock, your top end speed will drop at higher rpm ...

hmmm but dat not so important lah as Safety is more priority ... kekekekeke
