i have top up my tank for the 3rd time yesterday.

30% normal roads and 70% Eways.

travelled abt 370Kms and comes the light of low fuel, and still there are 2 bars on the fuel meter.

so i continue to travelled till i reached shell petrol kiosk near my place and pump 10L again at 415Kms, still the

2 bars in on the meter???

petrol use 95ron. distance travelled everyday abt 90km-100km.

Thanks for the feedback. Do note that the fuel guage is a guide. Not exactly accurate and as you can see between our two bikes our fc though similar, our light comes on at different distances. So its always good to know your own personal bike's limit.

UG1 -> silver engine block, 18" wheels, silver spoke rims, chrome exhaust, analogue speedo, kick start...

UG2 -> black engine block, 17" wheels, black sport rims, black exhaust, analogue speedo, kick start...

UG3 -> black engine block, 17" wheels, black sport rims, black exhaust, digital speedo, sharp led tail light, kick start...

UG4 -> black engine block, 17" wheels, black sport rims, black exhaust, digital speedo, sharp led tail light, clip on handlebars, no kick start, front tank flaps...

Just as feedback, when your light came on at 342km, how many bars on the fuel guage? 2?

yup.. 2 bars.. think that represents the reserve maybe..

Looks that way. So its full at 8 bars. Every 2 bars represent 1/3 tank roughly. I rather work with quarters but at least its good to know.

Looks like the reserve switch is easier to access as higher on the fairing, right ?

In any case, new riders, don't worry: when the light comes up to indicate you're running low on Fuel, you still have looooots of KMs to do.

If the main fuel is gone (on a P200 it usually happens roughly 100-200km after the light's up on the dashboard, but it will depend on your riding style), the engine will start to "cough", and have hiccups, or simply die.

When you have a bit of riding experience, you'll be able to turn the fuel tap to reserve while riding when you feel the hiccups.

But we don't recommend you to do so. It's not safe. Instead, keep an eye on the odometer, and switch to reserve when at a traffic light stop, or before your next ride.

Remember: there is no better way to monitor your fuel consumption than by keeping an eye on your trip meter. You have two "TRIP" meters. TRIP 1 and TRIP 2. Use one of them to see the distance you rode since you last topped up your fuel, reset it to zero everytime you topup your tank.

Hope this helps !

HB Xplorer Top Case 45L ordered, deposit paid. 3 to 6 weeks to arrival. 544 final price for the case, and 134 for the baseplate. I bargained hard for 500, but only got a promise to lower if anyone can prove a cheaper price in town.

I struggled long and hard with going economical. But in the end one beautiful aluminium Xplorer top case won out over three economical Givi top and side cases.

And no. I won't be ruining my beautiful alu xplorer TC45 with a couple e21s. Considered it for a second, but functionality will never trump beauty. And my little yellow hornet is a beauty.

Not sure yet. They tried the hard sell for the xplorer side boxes, but I almost choked on the price. That's not going to happen. Besides, would look more than a bit strange on a little NS. I'm still considering side boxes, but would have to look around to find something that would fit pricewise and lookswise. No rush on that. 45L top case will do for now. Probably get a helmet lock so I can pack more stuff in the case and make do.

Recommended helmet lock placement here:

Cost $20 at UM including install. You can place your helmet on your seat and wont get so wet if it rains.

Posted

Only problem I can see with putting the helmet lock there is if I decide to put on side boxes later. Boxes will block the lock. I know what you mean about putting your helmet on your seat though so it won't get wet. I do that now, except without a lock I take off the back seat and tie the helmet strap around the metal loop catch under the seat, then lock the seat back on and put the helmet on the seat. It works, but annoying to do every time.

I'm looking at changing my tires out. Was looking at the BT39's, but Unique only seems to have a rear 130/70 17. They do have a 140/70 17. I'd assume that would be a bit wider? Would that work? Or would I be better off just going for the TT900 which does have the 130/70 17?

Posted

I used panniers with the lock there. Doesn't hamper the lock. Just remember to use WD40 regularly on the lock cos it's facing upwards.

For 200NS I think 140/70 is okay. You do not need to remove the mudguards or rear hugger. Any wider will be a test. I asked the UM mech to check that day, he confirmed that 140/70 should be safe.

Posted

Should be safe. That doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. But someone posted few days back they put on BT Rear 150/60 17. So if he can do 150 width, then I guess 140 should be fine.

Most I've read says BT39 is slightly better than TT900, but hard to make a call between the two.
