Rider weight - 120 KG

Pillion weight - 60kg (occasionally)

side box with goods - 10 kg

back box with goods - 10kg

backpack - 5kg

 

Almost 200kg of weight..

Installed at UM after servicing and installing the rack. The boss just quote $18 and I did not bargain.

Few days back, my bike was involved in an accident. 3 cars in front of me had rammed into each other and mine hit the last car. I reported to IDAC the next day and I thought that was the end of it. The IDAC guy told me, there is no reason to file police report as there was no injury. He also mentioned that the police may not entertain you. So I just left it at that.

 

Today, I received a letter from a lawyer stating that my bike hit his client's car and asked me to provide the insurance details etc. So I have a few questions here.

 

1. Do I need to get a lawyer for this?

 

2. When I collected the details at the scene of the accident, I got the driver's name as A. But in the lawyer's letter it says, the owner of the car is B. Is there something I need to worry about? Ofcourse, in my IDAC report I provided A's particulars.

 

Please advice.

looks like they are going to claim from your insurance...

likely what is happening is "B" is the owner of the vehicle...so in order for the lawyer to claim using "B" name, "B" must be the driver...

which in this case it is not...

call the lawyer and tell them "B" is not the driver...

call your insurance and give them the IDAC report and the story...

they should be able to settle for you...

A small scratch of the paint itself is btw $1k-$1.5k & no other damages. For yours, pretty much higher..
