hey guys, just saw the most terrible thing happen to a fellow biker while riding home from camp. was just 30m behind him when a car just turned into his path at a junction while he was travelling around 80kmph. whats worse is the fact that he had a female pillion at the time. i'm quite a new rider and i've never expected an actual accident to be so graphic. so. please take care while riding guys. the impact is forever.

 

There are reckless drivers everywhere and anywhere. Ride carefully.

 

Ytd had to sudden brake twice in a distant of less than 100m to avoid not 1 but 2 car changing lane without signal and abruptly...

guys. please make sure you can actually SEE the cars ahead waiting to turn at a junction even if you are travelling straight and have the right of way. you never know what lies unseen if you just rush straight through. and in an accident, we always lose. (although that big GS1200 did leave quite a crater in the hyundai)

yeah pretty obvious to me the driver just turned without checking. but to be fair the rider was going quite fast through the junction (~80kmph). as you can imagine the impact was quite unpleasant as it was head on with the car. i was in a rush so i stayed till the ambulance came and passed my number to the rider as he was ok, cant say the same for his pillion though.

Seems like this leave quite a deep impact on you psychologically. Hope you will get over it soon.

 

Although bike right of way = no right of way, just practice all the safe habits the instructors taught us, do all the checking properly, travel at your comfortable speed and be observance on your surrounding at all time, I am sure you will be all right 98% of the time. The other 1% depend on other kuku motorists and 1% on luck.

 

I still slow down and look to my left and right at the side road, traffic junction and etc even when I am going straight to ensure it's really clear. Will also look at the mirror to check the rear traffic every few seconds.

 

If time is up, drive car or sit bus also will die 1. Don't worry too much and just enjoy the riding days. Anyway Singapore is not a good place to speed. So many red light if not cameras lying around. I hope others who wanna speed, think of the video we watched when we pass our TP. Think of the future consequences and our families.

accidents are part n parcel in riding n most impt, on the rd. we cant do much but do our best to prevent it.

I have been there.. i accident b4 even in jb.

i knock down pedestrain b4 with bike u noe hahahaha.

Like as what lindavw said... accident is part and parcel of biking... In my point of view... I ride more fiecere than those %^@(^ driver.... but often kenna branded as reckless rider in the eye of the law. but one thing the LAW doesn't understand is that even if a rider obey the traffic law... but how about those KNS driver ??!! anything happen... is too late.

 

Ride safe and ride with ur riding six sense open... anticipate what other road user is about to do... this can help u avoid accident.

morning. fate has brought u 2 this. it might not be a pleasant incident, but it is still an incident to remember. my bike left scars dat reminds me during my 'accident' times in d past. just ride safely and take care of yourselg. this goes 2 me n everyone.

Today I saw a similar scenario at the junction. While waiting to make a right turn at AMK ave 3, a Benz behind me cut from my right to make a right turn where a vespa was coming straight towards the junction.

 

Luckily the vespa manage to clear in 1 piece and the rider horn like mad and "Pi Ka Pi Chu"...

 

I really can't help but also cursed at the moron benz driver... Sunday morning where he was rushing to... Market still open at 9.30am mah, what's the rush sia?
