bro, is there any custom shop over your side able to do Indian chief fender for shadow?

I know a few "Custom" shops here but I don't think they can do an Indian Chief fender because we don't have those here.

Sorry about that.

Hahaha...

Yes, it's a single carb. The bike has HISS on it which I think is so cool.

I had the valve tappets re-adjusted and tightened all those loose screws and clamps.

Fuel consumption? I haven't got a reading yet since I haven't driven it very far yet. I'll get back to you on that.

It absolutely runs great. Love the shaft drive.

Mods?

1. Mustang tank bib and tuxedo tail.

2. MRA windshield.

3. Cobra floorboards.

4. Kuryakin ISO grips.

5. Red River leather tool pouch.

6. Red River throw-over leather bags.

7. Cobra integrated handlebar switch.

8. Pirelli Route tires (front & rear).

9. Motobatt battery.

10. Oxford battery optimizer.

11. Daytona "teardrop" side mirrors.

12. Ride It black plate no. holder.

That's it so far. :cheeky:

I really miss this bike. Performance, well, for pick up speed, it's similar to a 1.6 litre car, so it's not fast.

For fuel consumption, Extremely worst FC I had was 19km/L (because stuck in traffic jam due to F1 road closures), average FC was around 22-24 km/L and best FC was about 29 km/L (obviously from riding non-stop on Malaysian highways). That's from experience with my previous Shadow. I miss her LOTS. Pity it's too troublesome to ship her to Australia :weep:

Share my experience and cost of repair when I buy a 1997 Shadow ACE a month back.

Cooling system fail\leaking, please look out for any rust on the radiator cap or water in the coolant, this may give some warning. I found out my cooling system was leaking everywhere when I try to fill up the coolant. It was already empty & leaking , I went straight to "Will motor" to repair recommend by a colleague . Change every thing except fan, it cost me around 1K +.

My Trip meter and odometer jumping.

Use digiter meter to check for continuity, even if I on press the switch it still open circuit.

Tips posted by Hydher : Trip meter is a common point of failure.

Easily fixed with a momentary switch , will get it from Sim Lim Tower.

Other repaired quoted but will monitor the condition first.

PISTON, VACUUM (CARBURETOR COMP) weak\soft but still can use , 1pair SG $105 each. ( same price from spare part shop)

CDI glue leak, raise the level to prevent from leaking. SG $500 ( Spare part shop quote 350 ++ but out of stock. They are not bring in anymore. Found Ali express china OEM cost USD $85 free shipping.)

Top overhaul about SG $700 if the coolant water keep running low. Because riding without coolant may cause the casket spoil.

Overall repair experience is ok, it took 2 day to complete. I am riding it for a week now no major issues except some cable was not arrange properly after they put back the engine. Still monitoring the coolant level.

If anyone know if there other place to get a cheaper Orig CDI please share with me.

Hello bro. My cdi gasket leaking also. I dont think need to change right?

That place also water hard to get in.

Erm... I just replaced my radiator for >$300 for a local made radiator from first motors.

Original radiator is 400-700.

For the switch, think about how you want to mount it. For me i pry off the old switch and the new switch fitted perfectly there.

for the benefits of those fellow riders, this are the price and thing that i had change recently.

1) CDI, 430, why change? because leaking.

2) 4* sparkplug wire, 70, Why change, always kanna shocked by it as the spark plug wire was shorten due to cutting.

3) Magnetic coil aka Stator, 370, Why change, bike feel weak and jerking at some speed then up lorry on road, so bo bian got to change, else can scrap bike liao.

4) Rectifier, 100, why change, same as above.

5) carburator, 500, new one cost ard 1000, just used back the original casing but inside everything change.

Let me know if u guys need anymore abt the relevant bike spares as i think i change most of it except the engine.

Thanks Dark_Angel . What was you experience when CDI leaking , anything usual you found. Cause I check around, most advise to leave it if the bike can move. I was told the worst case the engine may stop from time to time then this the sign to change CDI.

I do experience jerking at some speed, it when off after a while. Not sure if it due to CDI , PISTON, VACUUM (CARBURETOR COMP) weak or magnetic coil you experience. Will keep monitor hopefully nothing major.

Trip meter fix by replace with a momentary switch . Slowly cut through the thick rubber with a pen knife . Try to cut only one side so that you retain the whole rubber. The switch is located at the top (Bottom up). Buy a "slim" monetary switch and slot in , you need to use solder for the wires.

I guess a 16 year old bike need these major change to last for another round.

I would like to meet up with you guys if there is a coffee session.

1) for CDI, even leak still can use. No issue just that i dun want to risk riding one fine day then suddenly the bike die on expressway and the goo is flowing out thru the seat to the side cover liao.

2) if u wack the engine, sometime there is a lag before the speed kicked in is normal. wat is not normal is when u stop and moving off, the engine starts to jerk or when u slow sped.

dun mixed up the slow pickup feeling with jerking feeling. slow pickup, u will not launch urself but jerking u sure feel like u are the rocket launcher ready to fly out. I think the carburator likely affect ur pickup only and fuel consumption only.

3) for the rubber seal and switch, can go scrapyard to find or can get from boon siew or FJT. think need to order as old bike liao, likely never keep stock or stock is too old, u also dun want.

4) For magnetic coil, dun know how to see spoilt or not. i just heng heng kanna and bike stop in traffic light and cannot move and cannot even start engine. That is already with new bat and reactifier.

for me is change when only the things spoilt. Almost spend 5k-6k on replacement and change of parts liao so that is a exp lesson to learnt and to share with folks here.

Get a new bike is better... hahhaha.
