Recommmended Service and Repair Shops

Hi bought my Shadow 400 today. It has clearly had a mishap and has been laid down at some point as it has some deep gorges and a dent along the exhaust as well the carboreter. I can either get them re-chromed or more drastically replaced.

From experience can anyone recommend the best repair shop to go to for the repairs and a full service.

Thanks

Hey guys, are you all still meeting every friday night for talk cock sing song sessions?

I am currently riding a steed. I have strong intentions to get this shadow for $4000 with another 4 more years of COE. Would like to get some advise from you bros. Is this price ok?

Anything i should anticipate when getting the bike? i went for a test ride. the engine sounds ok on low gear. but then didnt have chance to try going up higher gears as its a small carpark. will there be potential problems if i dont try the higher gears?

my mechanic told me shadow not much power cuz of its weight? is it true?

but i not so worried about power, i just worry about maintenance issues and costs of repairs in future.

any bros able to give some advise please? should i get the shadow or not?

Yo bro, yes we are still meeting up, usually on Friday night. You can pm me your number if you are interested to join. :)

Based on current COE price, $4k sounds like a good deal, provided the condition of the bike is still good.

Shadow 400 can cruise around 120-130km/h. Full throttle will go at 140km/hr max.

Shadow 750 can cruise around 130-140km/h. Full throttle will go at 160km/h max.

Shadow is a lot more heavier than steed. So u will expect the acceleration to be slower than steed. But during high speed cruising, it's more stable than steed.

Hope this helps. :)

4k seems rather ex. actually when buying a second hand bike, you should not be buying it based on the current COE price, but the COE price it was bought at 6 years back. You can go one motoring to check on the prevailing quota premium (PQP) for that particular bike. Only then can you gauge the machine price the guy is selling it to you for. if it was a 90's registered bike, 4k is too high actually..

as long as you buying second hand bike, there will always be maintenance and repair costs worries. maybe u could arrange to go for a workshop to evaluate what needs to be rectified before u close the deal.

Of course I trust my skills. I ride alone cos I don't trust the competency of the driver next to me.

Shadows are not expensive to maintain. i don't know where you're getting your info from, but parts are easily obtained. expensive or not is subjective and depends on how much cash you have in your pocket, right?

if there are no funny sounds, and no leaks, and no squeaks, most likely its ok to buy. i would actually profile the seller instead. if he seems like the bochup2 kind when talking to you, most likely bike not very well taken care off. if he talks of his bike with love, you know you've got a machine that was loved.

rather ex ah? hmm.. cuz i was thinking since the bike has 4 years of COE left and he asking for $4k, then one year i lose $1k, sounds like ok. hahha.

I hear from my mechanic. hahha. he say its an old bike the parts are difficult to get. @Jonborah bro, maybe you can share where you go for servicing and repairs? next time i can go check out that place (:

unless its a three letter plater (eg FBCxxxx) then, i think its quite ex. if u can afford it, then ok lah. no need to worry! just bring to a workshop to get it checked first so that u dont have to spend exorbitant amounts in repairs after that. hopefully 4k is all u have to pay.

i've never bought any bikes from you lei. haha!

previously, i refused to sell my bike to a guy cos he doesn't seem like he can take care of the bike!

i know my workshop can get parts easily from Chong Aik. So i guess, regardless of which mech you go, you can direct them to chong aik for parts.
